Congrats on the new purchase!! I really like the Concourse since it's redesign!! Props to Kaw on that idea......I'd looked them over for months along with the FJR and ST, but i guess my nuts were swollen with greed the day I purchased my 14 instead -- don't know if it's an older gents attempt at holding onto his youth or what......but all in all I'm happy with my ZX for now. Maybe I'll make the jump to sport touring when my body starts rebelling the effect of 5 and 6 hour rides on this rocket. But knowing me, when that day comes I'll dump a bunch of money into my 14 to make it more comfortable so I can still fly low!! I know the C14 is quick, but it ain't ZX14 quick.........Hey, there's an original idea -- someone should build one for the strip!!! With those saddle cases, think how much nitrous you could cram in there and still have room for parachutes!

I did 2100 miles in 8 days on basically stock 14, and I'm 57, only pain was the butt, but anything that I would of ridden will kill the back end.
Put the LSL handle bar kit on and you got yourself a ripping sport tourer. Many people provide baggage systems for the bike also.

+1 on LSL bar kit for ZX-14 if you are tall. I am 6'3" and Buell pegs with C-14 seat helps on long trips. 1200 miles in 3 days I am 58.

I had heli risers on mine at one time, but being 6ft and over 250lbs I was fighting shoulder wind blast at speed -- so went back to stock bar mounts and a double bubble screen to keep me more streamlined........think it's because I'm wider than most guys with a 52" chest. But the most I've ridden in one day has only been about 450 miles -- thinking about a modular seat or possible aftermarket with gel in it or something........kills my ass!

modifying a ZX14 for sport touring is OK.

But to say it can be made to sport tour on a level of the C14 or K1300GT beemer is unrealistic. It won't hold as much fuel for the distance, doesn't offer the wind protection, it lacks the shaft for smoother ride, ABS, luggage/glove box/rear luggage rack, economy ECU fuel selection, and a host of other things.

I went long distances on both my ZX14 and my 600RR, neither set up for it. Did 1000 miles on the 600RR in one regular 2 day weekend, so I agree anything is possible on any bike

I agree and want a C-14 too but other toys have drained saved $$ ,..... next year. Glad you have one as I will be reading about how it does. Getting too old for a 1000 mile week end on Any 600. Glad to read the wind shield is tall enough. At 6'3" not many new bikes are tall enough.

Congrats about the new C14! Let us know how she stacks up. Im glad you are enjoying her. My wife's
parents live out in florida. So I will be checking you one day Steve. Enjoy and put alot of miles on her, I just
wish I could do the same. When you have kids and wife, its hard getting time for the things you enjoy.
