Would be nice to see, although the one I am waiting for is something from Honda Motor Company.

It would look good(if it were real). Let's hope they knock some weight off it and give it some mid-range.

So what you are saying is that the CBR is the best bike to have on the street? The fastest machine? Do you think that the CBR can take a GSXr?

I'll toss some kindling on this fire:

R-1: a bike that makes twisty roads riding feel natural and fun.

GSXR1000: Makes riding twisty roads faster than your buddy on his R-1 possible.

ZX-10: If you get tired of losing to the Gixxer rider and want something that can beat him. Just make sure you bring a truckload of talent because this bike puts hair on your chest and fresh flowers on graves...

1098: When your Gixxer isnt fast enough any more and you decide to win the "parking lot races" instead.

I just want to know when the hell the 'Busa and 14 will get there horsepower makeovers so they can at least pretend to regain the king of speed title? They both apparently get soundly beat right now by the liter bikes!

Let me go on record and say if they sell a ZX14 or ZX_whatever in Kawi green, drop 30 pounds, add slipper clutch, redesign the 4 screw rear cowl, update the gauge cluster, I'm taking a wad of cash to motor sports of Tampa and buying another one!

For me they'd have to make it more like the ZX12R, narrow, good handling, good brakes, good ground clearance, etc... And drop 30-50 pounds

Something you could ride on the street, strip, and the occasional trackday. With 180-190 at the rear tire(stock).

You dont need more CC's, a "true" 1400cc is fine. Just enable it to rev to 13,000+ rpms with power and it'll put down 200 hp to the tires. Just make it less porky, because there has to be a way to knock off 50 pounds or more from it without making the dimensions (which I like) too much smaller.

But Adam, if you think the 14 handles worse than the 12 me and the friends I have that used to have 12's would have to dissagree. The 12 just wasnt a handling bike, was meant ot blast out of the corners but not blast into them. As a matter of fact, the last two former 12 owners (one bought a 636, the other a 1098) who rode my 14 were absolutely amazed how neutral it felt, how great the brakes were, and how smooth it was everywhere including the corners. Granted I have Racetec springs that make it alot more nimbler than the average 14, but still...

I suspect something big is going to happen in '09. And I was hoping to not have to buy another new bike until 2010!

Cycle World had troubles getting the stock 14's pegs near the ground in their last test(no Racetec springs or aftermarket pipes to drop weight), they said the bike was wobbling at only 70% pace through the corners, the Busa even had it beat in the turns. I see why they took the "R" off, not a bike to turn.

The ZX12R was only 2-3 seconds off in a test(BIKE or TWO?) with literbikes on a road course back in 04 or 05, the Busa was about 10 seconds off. I don't see the 14 doing much better than this given what I've seen.

I took my 12 out to a trackday before I bought another 954(trackbike) and had a great time with it as well as several other 12 owners, naught seen a single 14 at the track in recent years. Ever. Seeing how the 14 is heavier, lower, and longer I see why. I really wish they'd make it more of an all rounder than a straight only bike. They really went after the Busa.

Wobbling? No way, at least not on my 14, and in some of the other tests on the 14 when it first came out they said that it beat the '06 Busa around the track, but the Busa was a bit better on a windy road due to its more racier seating position and lower bars.

Now, I'm in no way saying the 14 is a corner carver, because its a act of frustration trying to make it hang with well ridden 600's and 1000's in the tight turns, but I've come to the conclusion that as long as the turn involves 50mph or higher speeds I dont lose ground anymore. I should amend that statement, however, because that wasnt even possible until I upgraded my shock and springs to Racetec units. World of difference, now as long as the turns are over 50mph it simply feels like a slightly porky 1000.

Wish you were closer to me so you could ride mine and see for yourself. But it is something to remember if you come across anybody on a 14 who has done the upgraded springs mod, you will no doubt be impressed (compared to a stock 14 or 12R).

The length of the bike seems to be a close second to the weight in terms of holding it back from truly carving corners though. Its very noticeable extra length requires higher lean angles to match the smaller bikes corner lines and speeds. Very disconcerting to be following a 600 through a corner and have to remind yourself to lean farther/ turn tighter just to follow his line. On a bike that is heavier and has less lean angle, too.

Oh well, just gotta keep telling myself thats not what I bought it for... though at one point in my purchasing and first couple months of owning it I thought I could just manhandle it into shape with experience and skill.

So much for plan A. Now I have to upgrade the power enough to make plan B viable (catching and passing them in the straights). At least until I come across a new Gixxer 1K or zx10... $#*$*#@*)@!)!!

The suspenssion wasn't set then, or it was bad. Many folks i know lean the 14 with no wobbles to the point the lower fairings are scraped up. There's pics of some bikes in this shape in the ZX14 forum as well.

I never allowed mine to go that low, but i had to take the peg feelers off and wear knee pucks to corner mine near its potential. No wobbling.

But with the slower overall cornerspeeds, I understand they won't allow an R on the big bikes
