How Yamaha gets its new bike designs

Just figured you Yamaha lovers would be interested in some Yamaha history via a Cycle World article.

good read, thanks sticks

for the 2007-2008 they mail each owner a whole BOOK on each part of the bike and how the design went from concept to reality. has pics and all, very nicely done. intro's the designers, track testers, etc.

i'm still not a yamaha fan but glad i bought one after owning several of all the other jap bikes and bashing yamaha for years. i thought i'd ride it a year and swap it like i do most of my street bikes, but since the full system/pcIII fixed the midrange lag I'm very happy with the bike. and my litre bike was ridden super hard over 1000 mountain miles without a glitch.

I'm not a loyal yamaha fan but I like 'em anyway now. maybe in another 15 years if I'm around i'll buy another after again owning several of the others.

Why dont you try keeping a few of them and building a collection steve? Looks like you got the garage space. I always regret something about the bikes I've sold in the past, because when I fork over hard earned dough for a bike I always try and pick a bike that has that 'something' that appeals to me. Which I always miss when I move on to the next bike!

well...every time I've owned more than one it seems only one gets ridden. since I've had the litre leaner the poor track bike hasn't seen a CCS race or track day yet. I might sell that bish. when a bike comes out I'd rather have my arse seated on than the R1 I'll pull the trigger. although I'm not a Yami fan still yet I'm liking riding this bike frequently
