NP - all brands got slammed, all brands got praised, and some pretty charts.

American mags seem to favor the brand that throws the most money at 'em!

Nice write up... how hot does that white and red R1 look?

It looks like the same verdict with a couple write ups now... ZX for the track and Blade for the road... mostly based on how the power is delivered. Sure doesn't mean that the ZX will be bad on the road, the Blade will just be more managable. And sure doesn't mean the Blade will be bad on the track... the Ninja just lives in that power range for the track.

I'm not seeing much from Kawi on the tracks in superbike or in the mags. They'll do better in superbike this year than these first few races though.

They'll do better or they should get out of racing. The question is how much better? Holding down the bottom end would be my guess.

Well what they do and what they should do is 2 different things... lets not be so negative hey 08Blade...

The factory Kawis need to get up with the other factory teams... that should be first goal. They don't have to win or even get podiums. Leave all the customer bikes at the bottom of the grid

It's funny how I can run faster 1/4 mile times on a 636 than these guys run on a ZX10. And I weigh 250lb. with gear. lol...
Experience.... Please give us a test with some capable guys at the handle.

Not rags that I've never heard of before.

Oh, & they picked the CBR as the winner last year too. When they test a Goldwing let me know.

Agreed!

If they give the nod to the CBR, I give that some props. But, these in the pocket of Honda rags w/ half-assed riders don't cut it Jack!

No you wont. You'll just come up with another "explanation" such as the riders suck, their on Honda's payroll, etc., etc. LOL

Here's a preview via a post from zx10r.net:

"Chris Ulrich was at the intro and he basically raved about everything about the bike, lighter (in almost every way, frame, engine, wheels) faster, stronger, more nimble you name it he liked it. They were at Laguna Seca, and he went 1.30.12 on race tire, what does that time mean to you, well he goes on to say that it was only .6 seconds off making the SUPERBIKE grid, and get this, that time would have put him 17on the Superstock grid ahead of 16 fully prepped race bikes. Granted Chris is definately no slouch behind the bars, but good god man, this is a all stock bike with no mods accept the tires. I think Honda is definately through playing."

Actually they said that they were ALL too much for the road and that that is a lot of the appeal.

Funny but i can't ever remember a top racer asking for their mechanics to make the bike harder to ride.

I understand part of the buying criteria with Kawasaki is that it's seen as the edgy, manic choice and that's OK, i've done it myself before. But why dont you just buy a Hayabusa and put some bicycle tyres and a quick action throttle on it. Same effect.

The easier a bike is to ride, the faster the lap times. If you look at which teams win races and shootouts, you'll find proof that statement is dead accurate.

If I recall correctly , the r1 of 07 was the quickest at the track. It took a good rider to extract the times but the same rider went slower on the "easier" to ride bike.

I assure you steve, you'll be behind me on your cbr600 if I'm crankin on a ZX636. Ah, you'll be behind me if you were on your R1. lol.....

Easier to ride is relative. It's called set-up. But that's a whole nother story that I'll not try to explain.
Ah, alright maybe I will. If the 10 has the chassis dynamics of a true track bike & the CBR has alittle compromise (which honda has admitted to in the past) then yes, the average joe giving average effort will find the CBR easier to ride & will post quicker times.
But, when both are ridden at full tilt by a more skilled rider, the 10 will prove to get around the track faster. Did you ever try to ride a bike dialed in for track use on the street or vis-versa?
Bottom line, you girls just won't wait for the respectable rags to give a review with substance. Your crown for the CBR is currently fabricated from shit.
I wouldn't base my purchase of a CBR OR ZX10R based on the reviews I've currently read .

Bottom line. You name the "respectable rag" and I'll get back to you when they crown the 1000RR shootout king. LOL
