MY 2008 R1 Pic Journal

Since I have this whole forum to myself, I've decided to keep an online journal here-

Monday, afternoon Nov. 6th I bought an '08 R1. Right out of the box R1

Wednesday met up with some friends to put a few miles on the bike towards breakin

Friday November 9th realizing I can't even put the bike on the stand to clean it or work, I visited my good friend Ross at Velocity Moto and got my first (of many to come) VORTEX products. These swingarm spools are great, and I forgot to nab the old ones off the 14 before I traded it.

New spools

Then the really nice thing is unlike the sport-touring bikes, the trim litre bikes work on the pit bull forward handle race stand with swing arm up or down. My ZX14 bike I had to work the kickstand while halfway up on the pit bull, I was always fearful of dropping it.

OK since the first VORTEX product has been installed. I went for a ride and the bike seems to be performing so well...... phone cam pic:

Steve:

Good pics of the bike and the events as you are getting her broken in and set up. Been busy, but wanted to drop in and see the progress.

Ride safe...

12/28/07- Chad at Kinetic, suspension expert sets up the suspension on the R1. Dave got his suspension adjusted too. The test ride was fun, and these ladies were conspiring to steal our bikes.

1/1/08 R1 goes on an all day New Year's Day Ride. Other than a bike going down and 3 people getting speeding tickets, we had a blast!

1/26/08 I bought an '07 body piece
Ok my '08 bike came with a funky FLAT pinkish-red body work over the tank. The '07 candy red body work over the tank matched.

The new piece is on the left that matches the tank (2007 body work).

Old pic of bike with the funky pinkish piece on tank

New (2007) peice on tank, it matches!

Thanks, , the race baffles are so deep and sweet sounding but too loud, rather than dump these exhausts I'm going to pack more fiberglass, and I have to gut the cats and do the PCIII thing yet. Good luck on getting that bike from the kid!

3/3/08 Turn signal project.

With Eric's help, turn signals done.

Rear (custom job with LEDs/relays)- Passenger pegs were powdercoated. 5-pin relays installed to allow rear signals to function as running lights always on in addition to turn signals. Forgive my camera skills, pics do the project no justice.

Front turn signals, Watsens fron Canada were chosen, they are extremely bright, tiny, and light everything up beside the motorcycle. Here is a pic of the huge factory signal, then a pic of the flushmount watsens (colorite painted to match bike).
