Thank you, Bikeland! Techmount arrived today...
So, I was literally on the verge of clicking the "submit" button on a site to purchase a silver Techmount for my 1098, and my wife calls up to me:
"Uhm, Bryce, did you buy ANOTHER accessory for that money pit of a bike?" (women just don't understand).
Feeling guilty about the fact that I hadn't YET bought another accessory, I respond feebly, "No, baby! Not yet, at least?"
She yells back, "So what's this 'techmount' thingie you got in the mail from Bikeland?"
It hits me that I had registered for the 1098 techmount contest earlier last month. But, given that I NEVER win anything, I'm still in a state of disbelief.
Lo and behold, there she is, in all her silver glory! The techmount I was literally about to order. I'm not even kidding, I was probably 10 seconds from submitting my order.
I was able to amend my order to get the quick change adapter and RAM mount for the Nuvi instead, saving me about $70.00.
Thanks, Bikeland! Thanks, 1098 Desmo! You guys rock!!

When I get the quick change adapter and Nuvi mount tomorrow, I'll take some pics and post 'em here. I've already tried on the base mount, and it works fabulously!

Still waiting patiently for mine.....
how did you hook up the power, or does it run on batteries?

In the picture, it's running on batteries, but also runs off of AC. From my experience, it generally run about 5 hours on a charge.
