I haven't had access to my bike for over a week . My GF had surgery (she fine) this week on the east coast. I'll see the bike again next week though - and maybe get my GF out to see it too !! WOOT!

Hi Guys,

Finally got my 1098s on Saturday, went for a spin along a great road last night and this is what I have noticed.
The brakes are fucking unreal
The suspension is harder than a sixteen year old with a playboy mag.
And trying to keep the revs under 6K is like trying to intentionally leave your wallet in the car when you go to a lap dancing bar (fucking nigh on impossible)

If sex was a colour it would be red.

Cheers
Reggie

Take ALL the rebound out of the front and use only about two turns of compression. I don't know where the back is right now, but I took a bunch of compression out. I'm going to do a full suspension adjustment this weekend and I'll report back. (I'm 190 lbs)

Thanks Doug... my 2 complaints right now... suspension (I need to get it sorted - Doug's settings will probably be ok for me) and below 4K on the engine. I can't wait to get a power commander and get this baby to a dyno...

Judging from suspension suggestions you guys write here and there on several threads,I came to the conclusion that a few bikes have diff settings out of the box.

Removing preload and reducing compression on my S would have been terminal...it was already plusher than a '72 Cadillac.

I found that if you sit all the way back on the seat the rear shock tracks hellishly well;riding the tank (motox style) as on Jap bikes doesnt seem to be the way to fly on that thing...at least for me.

I'm about 200lbs geared up and i like my rear shock hard (had the same spring fitted on my R1's Ohlins).

And yeah, after the 5th day of owning that thing,I feel at home on it...great bike, great brakes, great chassis, great everything.

I try not to stop too often...tired of cleaning the drool off of it everytime.

Hey Martinc! Keep in mind Doug and I have a base model... the "S" may be better out of hte box with its Ohlins setup.

I wouldn't be surprised that the Ohlins set up would have NOTHING in common with the std. model settings.

Hello boys...... no probably not, the S to the standard. Set your sag first, then go from there. Depends on how much foolishment entertains you I suppose. Corsa Pro's Suck for street riding, about 2K out of the first set, and I was VERY kind with the throttle for the first 1K. Couldn't find a set of Corsa 3's ( I have a new front and rear 3 in the garage now), so I had to opt for a 3 front and a pro rear...... I really doubt the rear will last more and 1200 miles at best.... oh well. I echo the handling sentiments....... damn thing just rails. Not real happy with the amount of swarf on the drain plug when going to Redline syn....... I've talked to other Duc guys and they say be calm....... 2 year warranty, eh? Get used to covering the brake with a finger on street rides or you'll have a sad sad story to tell about grabbing a handful. Ta Ta

+1

Accidental stoppies are fun for a while, Has anyone else noticed how reassuring the brakes are in the wet, they make my old 998's brakes feel like they were made outta wood.
sublime...

Still under a 1000 k's on mine (just) have been nudging 8k revs in 1st, 2nd and 3rd lately.
gooooooodbye licence.

cheers
