1098 down

I have been riding bikes for over 10 years now and last night I had the unfortunate experience of crashing my less than a week old 1098.

I was going around a curve and I saw 2 bikes coming the other way at a high rate of speed. I think my attention was on them, making sure they were not coming into my lane. When I realized I may not make this corner I tried leaning harder and getting the bike to make it. The front tire hit the gravel at about 50 mph and that was it. I slid about 70 feet, 30 of it was pavement. I ended up laying under a barbed wire fence. I was wearing over the ankle motorcycle boots, jeans, a mesh jacket with pads, leather gloves and a helmet.

I had to leave by way of ambulance, I have a broken collar bone and some road rash on my forearm and hip area.

Not sure of the bikes condition yet, it is at a friends house now. I'll post some pics later.

Be careful out there.

Chris that SUCKS man. I took a bad fall last year too - several broken ribs, collapsed lung and a broken collar bone too. Chin up though man. Bones heal and there are always new bikes out there. Keep us posted on progress.

Sorry to hear that. Look at it this way, you got your crash out of the way with only a collarbone. Get well soon!

Bad luck mate, hope it all (you and the bike) gets sorted soon.

I just posted on your "chicken strip" thread before I read this - I guess getting the bike over is the least of your worries now?!

Sorry to hear about the crash, heal quick.

If the bike was insured, would you consider an 1198 as a replacment

Rest up dude! The 1098 is waiting to be broken in, how can you leave her alone in that garage......You should put her in your bedroom so you could see her while you recover. She is still so sexy after an unfortunate beating. I LOVE HER too!
