Hmm.. What to get for a new 1098?
OK folks - time to compile a list of things to get when purchasing a new 1098! Here is what I have so far:
1. New Ducati leathers (Great upselling at the dealer )
2. Carbon Fiber slip on cans
3. New ECU/Airfilter (come with new CF slip on cans)
4. Open clutch setup
5. Cool ducati bag that fits on the tail of the bike (perfectly)
HEre is what I think I need in addition:
1. New tool kit - stock one SUCKS
2. 3m covering for the bike
Anyone want to chime in on other things? Possible things I'm thinking about:
1. Ducati rear stand (the one that fits into the single sided swing arm)
2. ECU programmer kit

The paint protection system is a must have - took me about 8 hours to fit 20+ pieces but well worth it.
Obvious ones are the open clutch (prolongs clutch life apparently?), Termi cans (baffles out - what a noise!) and apart from C/F bits everywhere, I went for the high lift screen which works perfectly for me at 6 foot tall.

It's called "Ventureshield" - you can get it in the US, try here:-
http://www.ventureshield.com/
It works - I picked up a mark in the front fender r/h side on Saturday which definately would have damaged the C/F finish if it wasn't fitted?

WOW - did you get their "full kit" for the 1098 S ? I bet that would fit my "regular" 1098. How easy is it to install?

Yes, I had the full kit (20 plus pieces) and it is common across all 1098's.
Took me about 8 hours to fit, but I am quite fussy and had to re-do some of the pieces, many times! This is OK as long as you keep the film wet with soapy water, as the adhesive doesn't go off.
You need to be indoors (out of the wind and sunshine) in a reasonably clean environment.
The finish is superb, shines up just by washing and rinsing, but polishes really well and the dead bugs wash off easily.
