Would you expect a test ride?
Do you expect to be able to test ride a motorcycle before you buy it? (opinions please)

YES!...HD/Buell has been good about it....my favorite Kawasaki dealer has always been good to me about it...KTM is good about it...BMW is good about it..that's benn my experience so far....looking more mature with proper gear that hasn't been crash-tested and zero scrub on my kneepucks helps alot I think

Other than HD letting you ride a Buell, I've never seen test rides of bikes at a dealership. Sometimes I've seen demo rides at events like a race but that is usually put on by the manufacturer.

Yup, certainly would. They want to sell a product, we want to know what we are buying. Some dealers don't let ya test ride, I don't buy from them. One dealer I have used will let you ride anything, as long as you sign the insurance paper that states that you pay the deductable, far enough I think.

I understand why most dont...but I think they should. BMW almost got me with their test ride ...until I thoroughly researched the 14 with this sites assistance....of course I went with 14 but it was close.

When I was a dealer I did test rides only after a careful "interview" with the potential customer and signing of a pretty good release. Unless the individual was known to me, I would NEVER do a ride if the customer did not ride in on something reasonably close to what he was looking at.
It only took seeing one "Oh yeah I can ride, been riding for years, used to ride a whatever..." idiot literally run into a wall and almost go through a plate glass window because he couldn't find the brakes, to teach me that little technique.
