Spent the Weekend with my new Italian friend!
And here's what I've learned so far.
This thing is LIGHT.
The only other bike I've ridden that handled like this was an AMA Championship TZ250.
It's not too uncomfortable.
The speed at which the weight on my hands goes away is 78 mph.
You could be the fastest guy through the corners in any pack of riders and never rev it over 6000.
This thing is LIGHT.
The stock mufflers sound bad ass.
The paint is REALLY soft. Just touch it and it scratches. Get some wax on it RIGHT AWAY.
The bodywork is pretty easy to remove, but you'd better have a really fresh 3mm Allen.
I can't seem to get the slack out of the throttle cables, I adjust them and then later they feel sloppy again.
The brakes are EXCELLENT.
As delivered, the steering stops are adjusted so that you can make a U-turn but at the same time, break your fingers on the fairing. You can adjust them.
Those aren't TORX, but are Allens.
You can put it anywhere you like, even mid corner.
I never want to find the limits of this bike on the street.
Anyone who does is a freekin' suicidal idiot.
At about 6500 there's a pretty solid hit of a power band that I'm looking forward to playing with further after I accumulate a couple more hours on it.
The mirrors are absolutely worthless. You have NO idea what is behind you.
Sooner or later that will be a cop. No question.
It's been 26 years since I bought a new Ducati. It was worth the wait.

Very good Doug! Yeah, pretty much echo my sentiments, other than the mirrors aren't THAT bad for me. It will be FAST above 6K. Pretty long legged....... Be smart and run radar, or don't whine, 85 and up for stock gearing. Yup, it's LIGHT and flicts, Cool, huh?

...dude....everyone knows that a Ducatis are not the best bikes to lean up against...its not like they have Harley-esque lean-to weight and the robust kickstands to support that weight....now had you said, "something to stare at while you drink your soy latte double decafe half twist sommersault choco hecho de mexico rio grande w/wheatgrass", then maybe you'd be half-cocked right...but my guess is that DM would have time to sit, guzzle he-man 1000 degree coffee, black and no sugar....and discuss the virtues of his 1098 with those present while they wait for you....an hour later ...
