My 08 gixxer 750 build thread
Since there isn't a gsxr 600/750 section on this forum, I'll start my 750 build thread here.
I have been doing track days since 05 when I first took my brand new at the time red 05 zx10r to Loudon NH.
A few years, tracks in the North-East and a few bikes later, I bought a black 08 gsxr 750 which only handles track duties for me. The bike had less than 1K miles on the odo and was 4 months (from the dealership floor) when I bought it- I really didn't want to take the financial hit of buying a brand new bike and taking it for some trashing at the track.

The bike was checked at GMD Computrack Boston and the frame and neck were fine but I had to replace the swingarm, forks, wheels and front rotors, tripple tree top clamp, case covers on both sides, radiator, ram air tubes, gauge cluster etc.
Lots of inexpensive (and some expensive) gsxr parts on eBay kept my rebuild expenses lower.
This will probably be a slow moving thread due to the fact that I'm really busy with what I do for living and a limited free time to wrench in the garage. I'll do it anyway! 
I'll start the thread by posting a few pics of the bits and pieces that are going on the bike and I have recently piled up awaiting bolt on.
And it begins...

This is the carbon fiber fairing stay/ gauge stay (I think it is Bestem... the box will be rescued from the mess in the basement)- it is far lighter than the oem unit

The gsxr is not known for being a bike with great brakes. A popular swap is to put Yamaha
R1/ R6 front brake rotors with the use of spacers for the mounting bolts as the gsxr uses 310 mm front rotors and the Yamaha uses 300 mm. I got these cheap on eBay and the spacers are machined by Zoran (popular machinist on the Wera forums)

The best race brake pads IMHO- the Vesrah RJL!
You can abuse these in high temps and they will not develop any fade and there will be no mushy feeling at the lever after the first few hot laps

The bike had a full Yoshimura stainless steel TRC exhaust during the crash. I'm not a big Yoshi fan but bought the bike with it.
Here's the damage on the muffler and mid pipes

Although still usable (for a track bike), the TRC is being replaced.
Enter full Titanium Leo Vince SBK Evo II!
I will have pics of the headers and mid pipes when the exhaust is assembled and ready to be installed on the bike.
For now- just a teaser with the ti muffler

It will be around 50-55 lbs. lighter with the stock wheels and brake rotors.
The ti exhaust is over 10 lbs. lighter, also the R-R subframe is over 10 lbs. lighter.
The Armour Bodies race fairings are over 10 lbs. lighter than the oem set.
The bike will be completely stripped down of anything not needed at the track- all lights (incliding fuses and harnesses),
horn, ignition, side stand and switch, set valve, oem steering damper, rear tire hugger and chain guard etc.
I believe there's another 10 lbs. of weight savings with the Speedcell battery, cf fairing stay,
misc. billet aluminum aftermarket bits and pieces, the Woodcraft full rear sets (still don't have them)
and a few others.
I will be running a 520 conversion with AFAM sprockets and the lightest chain out there- the DID ERV3.
This setup alone is over 2.5 lbs lighter than oem with gains of almost 3 rwhp on the dyno.
The only weight added will be by the pcV, Hyperpro active steering damper, Woodcraft frame sliders and clutch slider plate.
With the couple of other odds and ends that I'll need such as a lap timer and the Gopro HD camera (to study my lines),
I'm hoping not to exceed 5 lbs.
It's too early and it's all a guestimate at this point.
A friend owns a business with a large and very accurate scale that get calibrated every week,
I'll put the 750 on the scale once before the first track visit.
I need to lose a few lbs. myself- 175 lbs. in shorts is abot 8-10 lbs. away from where I need to be.
