Track Riders, BMW S1000RR?
I don't do a lot of track days but I usually take in 1 or 2 a season. I'm an Intermediate rider with STT which means I can actually make it around the track without falling (not necessarily fast, but I can make it around - eventually).
My question is are you other track riders worried about the Bimmer? 193 horses at the crank? That's roughly 170 to the rear wheel and the thing's not short on torque either. Are any of you considering leaving Suzuki for the Blue, Black and White? Just want to know what you guys are thinking.

My CBR and GSXR are staying but the S1000RR could be sharing shop space.
Check Akrapovic's web site their dyno charts say the new BMW is 15 HP up on
the curent 1000's,with similar weights should put out in front easily. MCN and MotorcycleUSA have video from the press outing,looks like my first Beemer
will be in 2010.

Do you really need the most rwhp liter bike if your level is " make it around the track without falling (not necessarily fast, but I can make it around - eventually)."?
If you can afford to wreck the bike resulting in a total vehicle loss- by any means go for it!
I bought my gsxr 750 last year and put another $4-5K in it to be really track worthy, crashed it in Aug and have spent upward of another $5K rebuilding it so far and I'm about $2K and a few long days wrenching in the garage away from finishing it and will ride it again in April when my local tracks reopen.
Taking a new bike to the track has it's negatives IMHO.

I'm not getting one, I was just wondering what other riders were thinking. The economy is WAY TOO BAD for me to shell out for a bike like that - but I can't lie, I'm quite curious to see if all the bells and whistles make it much better for track use. A lot of the features the bike has won't really serve much purpose on the street but for the "weekend Rossi" those features may prove very useful.
My budget has me putting together a 2001-2003 era GSX-R600 for the track this year so I feel your pain.

Just got the K5 back from Rev'd Up Motorsports in Dekalb, IL last week. Bike puts 190.46 horses to the rear wheel. Rode with my buddy the other day on his Raven R1 and it was a laugh. Just blasted by him like it was nothing.
New problem - now when I twist the throttle good every little ripple in the street throws the front wheel in the air. I don't want to stretch because I don't want to sacrifice handling. Ideas? Thanks.

You could always sacrifice a bit of power and gear the bike a little -- would take some punch out of the throttle and would help ya keep it down without spending a pantload of cash

Not really worried about it -- sold my track bike couple years ago -- but when i do get an occasional track day in on my zx14, I'll keep my visor peeled for the new Beemer!!
