Help: Might Sell '06 ZX-14

I bought a salvage 2006 ZX-14 back in winter 2008 from Cycle Search International and brought it back to very good condition (except for the title which is still in Salvage status). Everything on the bike works perfectly with the exception of the turn signals and high beams (relay issue I've been too lazy to correct).

Cycle Search told me the bike had about 5000 miles on it but I was only able to find a gauge unit that had 8550 miles on it.

Recently I've been thinking about selling the ZX-14 and beginning a new project. Part of the reason for this change of heart has to do with the difficulty and cost of trying to move the salvage title to rebuilt status in the State of Illinois. Illinois truly makes a mountain out of a mole-hill in this regard. I haven't been through the process myself but I've studied it and know people who have gone through it. It's a hassle and a half.

Q: How much should I reasonably expect to get for the bike?

sounds like a title search will show bad joo-joo even though it looks great..might be a tough sale IMO. When you get cash, that's what it's worth in this situation. Most 14's have less than 10K for a good price Might be better for a drag bike..5K? I'm guessing

i think you'll be hard pressed to find someone to give $5000 for it with the title that way. i just bought an 06 with a clean title last saturday with only 4000 miles for $5500. bone stock and super clean.

Before the market took a dump I bought a fixed and sold 12 salvage title bikes here in Iowa and had no trouble selling them. But I say you would be looking at roughly 4500.00 plus or minus a couple hundred. I sold a mint 06 with 1900 miles on with a boat load of extras last fall for 6800.00 never wrecked.

I really appreciate it guys. Funny thing is I really like the bike and I feel close to it because it was my big winter project back then. Thanks again.

If you get serious about selling, let me know, I have been looking around for the right opportunity for a dragbike based on a 14. I am in northeast Indiana. earlandsarah@comcast.net
