Drag bike
A friend recently passed away and left a late 1980's early 1990's bike with his family. They are trying to find a good home for it and sell it at a resonable price. It "appears" to be a turbo Kawi and last run back in the early 90's. Any input/suggestions would be appreciated. I can't post pictures on this site. So, I posted them over here - http://retroboats.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1031#1031 Thanks, Rick

What are they asking for it. I know you said it was a reasonable price but I do not know what the details are in the bike.

The family doesn't know what to ask or what it would be worth. It comes with a lot of spare parts, blocks, clutches, other frame in the picture and so forth. Bike did run when parked but it's been sitting in dry storage for 15 or so years. Bike is in the Phoenix Arizona area. Make a resonable offer if anyone is serious. I'm not playing games just acting on behalf of the family.

The owners son told me the bike ran an E.T. of 6.40 and ~ 243 MPH.

I might believe the 6.40 but not the 243 mph. That Top Fuel speed there. 200-210 maybe...
And really I dont think the Funny Bikes now run 6.40's...

I'm going off of the sons 15 year old memory and not claiming to be the expert.. The number did sound high currently I'm building nostagia funny car bodies and those cars only run around 240~250 MPH. Anyway the family told me they only want $3,000 for everything.

Retro, I highly suggest that your friends family have someone from a local shop take a look at it and see whats its worth. A third party appraisal from someone who knows what they are looking at. It looks like there was a lot of money and effort put into this bike, but it will be hard to sell without some type of listed mods to 'prove' what its worth. Maybe even two opinions. Not for sure if you're into bikes, but I've met some really, really great people in the motorcycle community who would take their time to help someone out. Hell, there might even be a member here on the board that could stop by and give you an estimate. You obviously want to help these folks out, but it will be tough for them to sell. I'd also recommend listing on craigslist once you have a good negotiable price.

Thanks for the advice. Problem it was the family did not want to store it. It was in my shop and just wanted to find a home for it. They remembered the name of the engine builder and I suggested someone try to contact him if possible. I pointed out more info about it and possibly a running bike would add to it's value. Ebay is another option. Thanks again
