Wanted,ZX1290 motor checked out
Might be gettin my 12 back this week along with that nightmare motor.I need some one to dissassmble it,inspect it,clean everything,find out why the new headgasket is leaking coolant and put a 2000 exhaust cam in it.I want this thing right.I have so much money in it now I cant afford any more mistakes on it.I mean I want it completely looked at,all new gaskets,transmission and all inspected.I want to be able to get it back and stick it on the bike with no problems this time.BTW,it an o1 1290 motor and my bike is a 2000.I might possibly want some headwork done if the price is right.I need to know who is most capable of this task who will not rape me on the deal.Any and all input would be appreciated,I am in NC.

you are asking for a complete tear down and rebuild and the cost will be
the same except for the parts. you may be better off just giving it a try and spend the money IF needed. BTW Doug from muzzy said you can reposition the pick up on the ex cam and eliminate the need to reshim the 2000 cam, and the purchase cost .

normal rebuild is ~1200-3000 labor depends on who and what you want done. things like port matching, heavy valve springs, degree sprokets and degreeing cams add up quick.
