Thanks you woppi!
And I gotta tell you, woppi, that Buddy had a special place for you: "woppi is even crazier than we are about this sport..."

I did not have my camera the weekend Buddy and I pitted next to eachother at the King of the Track Race in 2006. I really regret that. We got to talk alot, and I wish I could have gotten to know him better...... His clutch basket and multistage hat (with my tune), are going strong......
He will be missed, but not forgotton.

quote: Buddy sounds like a guy I would have enjoyed meeting very much and he certainly didn't deserve the end he was dealt.
I'm sure you guys who knew him will remember him forever and learn from his example. That's something you can carry forever, and if someone else you meet is lucky, you pass it on to them.
You guys are better people for knowing him, dont be sad.
U Got that Right Jim! Buddy even liked the fact that he had a "FAN" Club! in another country (Washington, DC) Some people touch the Hand, SOme touch the Mind and some touch the Body, But Buddy touched your Heart! That was the 1 thing he had the most of!

I am thankful that they had the services in Dallas and not in Jacksonville. It was a very nice service, the guy that did the Eulogy knew Buddy well and did a great job. It was more of a celebration than a mourning.
I sat behind three women and it was great to see them turn to each other with thier mouths hanging open when the guy doing the Eulogy was reading off some of Buddy's MPH from a 2003 race, when he said 138 mph all three of them started trading shocked looks with thier eyes wide open. But when he said that Buddy was in the 200 mph club they just looked shocked. That was so cool, not only the women's response but the way the guy giving the Eulogy "got it" he knew Buddy's passion.
I have known Buddy for about six or seven years, it was hard not to bump into him at the race track, he was at PMRA, Tx Shootout, Kennedale and even Yellowbelly, you have to be a huge fan to run that track !!
He told me about beating colon cancer ten years ago but nothing about the subsequent attacks, you would have never known, we didn't know, it was a complete shock that he was in Hospice.
Last time I saw him was at Kennedale, he passed me on IH20 going to the track, I thought it was some kid cruising past me, then he drove up next to my truck in line and knocked on my truck window, he had his signature grin and it was great to visit with him for a few minutes.
He had a gift of making you feel special, he knew how to listen in a way that it seemed like he was hanging on everything you said, if you know me you know that's a special gift because I can bore myself to sleep.
Buddy, if they have internet on the other side I want you to know that I am not sad today, I rejoice with your family and friends in a good man's life, say hello to big guy for me.

The Little I Knew Buddy, the Crazy thing would be that he would have a hard time understanding why we are making such a Fuss over him because "to him", He would tell you that he had never done anything to deserve this! Buddy could not toot his own horn and it embarassed him to see others doing it! "Right there is what made Buddy Special and a Cut above all of the rest of us! You guys have no Idea of how much I miss that guy! After all, he was less than 2 years older than me and who else do I have to look up to that I know? This just plain Hurts!
Karl, how are you doing? I know that losing your own Dad or family Member could not be any harder for you!

Sorry to read this...
My condolences to Buddy's friends & family. He sounds like a great gentleman, and I'm sure he's proud that so many felt so strongly about him. I never met him, and I'm sure it was my loss.

quote: Mr. Hill with that statement, you did know Buddy well.
Not as well as a lot of people! My deal with him was when ( I have to be careful here still so I have to dance around a little) he won a "Prize" at an event. To collect the prize he would have had to change what he was using to accept it. Knowing this I made a few calls to do a work around and Buddy must have called sent me 10 e-mail in 1 day which mostly said that he did not want to cause any problems or make any fuss. Then when things were worked out I received another batch of e-mails stating that he appreciated what I did and appreciated it but he did not want to cause any problems and that he would have rather just turned down the prize! The prize was worth about $1,200 which is HUGE!
Right there I gained more respect for Buddy because self Aggrandizement was TRULY not his thing. I felt that he was truly an Humble Man. ALso, Who else do "I" Have to look up to / Forward to? Anyone else Older than me doing what we do? My favorite statement from him was he liked having a Fan Club "In a Foreign Country" (Washington, DC)
