Man you guys, you're bringing tears to my eyes. I didn't know buddy, but judging from your comments, he must of been a very special person. My prayers and best thoughts to his family and friends. Speaking from experience, I know what it's like to not only beat cancer, but have to live with the possibility of its return. It says a lot about Buddy's character that he he didn't quit living, but went for the gusto, something I need to do myself....., really get back in the saddle instead of just being a poser....

"It is impossible for anything so natural, so necessary, and so universal as death should ever have been designed as an evil to mankind. Teach me to live that i may dread the grave as little as my bed."

Take the Best Friend you ever had and then make him Everyones Best Friend then Make him the Most unassuming person anyone ever met, Then make him a very Generous person with his time and THEN you just start to have Buddy! One of the Kindest Gentle Man I have ever met. That is why in the Picture at MIR I am right behind Buddy because no one is good enough to be in front of him! BUD DEE!! Bud Dee!! bud dee!!

Karl,
I saw a video of Buddy the other day drag racing the 14. He was in the right lane I believe at an eigth mile track. I didn't realize he was that agressive off the line. Does anyone have any video that they can post?

I'm bummed that I never met Buddy. Sounds like he was the type of human being that should be emulated. Prayers to his family and kudos to all of you who were able to meet and spend time with him. I didn't have that luxury.

Peace be with you, Buddy.

Buddy really fought the good fight and lived life to the fullest, and despite the bad luck never appeared down or took anger out on anyone. As has been said here before, he was as fine an example of a class act as I've ever met.

Glad I got a chance to meet you at least once Buddy.

Enjoy the peace. You've earned it.

Buddy's wife andaughter both asked me to invite all of his friends to the ceremonies.

Anybody heard from Matt S. (02zx12rbob)?????
He was very close to Buddy, bought his 14, and was there for Buddy at all times.

the "Buddy story" which says it all about his will to win. I didn't see it, but someone here did.

Buddy was racing 1/4 mi and was slightly winning when he missed a gear (3/4?), he looked down to make sure he toed it in, and fell behind the other guy. Being behind was NOT what Buddy liked, so he WOT'd it, hitting nitrous, and felt glee as he flashed past the other guy.

Buddy said he felt like a million bux until he noticed that he was wot in the shut down area, because he had looked down while passing the finish line.

Needless to say he did not stop in time and hit the berm at an estimated 60mph.

His bike stopped but Buddy didn't, and his thigh ripped off one handlebar.

a little bruised, he loaded up his bike, had it fixed and racing a couple weeks later.

what an animal!

I didn't get to talk to Buddy much during the '06 Texas mile, but I did get to meet him. The way that group of guys acted, it was truely like family. I felt beyond welcome. I'm sure it was the bikeland group in general, but the laughter and comradere just orbited around Buddy. Seeing the ways all those guys interacted, was, and still is magical.

Buddy, I'm sorry I ddin't get to know you as well as others, but your spirit, heart and sole will be carried and forwarded with the lives that you touched---forever. Godspeed to you, you are truely an inspirational to us all.

Jeff

I only got to meet Buddy once, but will remember him forever. He was an extraordinary man, a friend to everyone.

A pic of Buddy at the Spring 07 Texas Mile.

Buddy sounds like a guy I would have enjoyed meeting very much and he certainly didn't deserve the end he was dealt.
I'm sure you guys who knew him will remember him forever and learn from his example. That's something you can carry forever, and if someone else you meet is lucky, you pass it on to them.
You guys are better people for knowing him, dont be sad.
