Boards VS facebook...

Anyone else on here hate Facebook?

I'm sure I'm in the minority on this but I really dislike the unorganized and endless mess of Facebook.

I like coming on the boards and reading threads and posts. I have to admit I haven't been coming on the boards much in the last several years but I do miss it and I think its just a much better simpler format.
Yea its not the instant and "live" "real time" like Facebook but I just cant stand all the garbage and endless drivel on there. I can hardly bring myself to open it and spend 5 minutes on there. I hate every minute I'm on there. So I'm contemplating removing myself and Competition CNC from it all together and just picking a board to visit and post on.

Maybe I'll just sponsor this board and use it as my home base again like the old days.

Maybe I'm just getting old?

You're absolutely not old. Facebook sucks. It's slanted conversation and pretty much no one on there knows any basic rules about the internet or how to behave. Shocked at the behavior and people don't even do it hidden behind pseudos.

There is zero ability to search or share or retain info. Interesting to have the discussion be "its all about me" centered (facebook) versay actual community building or talking about a specific topic at hand.

the boards have a lot less traffic with all the new facebook groups. i do like the ability to find info on these boards years later where on fb its gone in a few days. what i hate is that photobucket killed all the pics in those old threads

I would also like to see the boards come back to life. It is nice to be able to search and find information from years ago.

I participate very little on FB and just as a lurker primarily. It's a full time job in itself just staying on top of it and it can go sideways pretty quickly. The whole vibe is just off for me... I'm still a "Board" guy..

The public comments people make to total strangers on Facebook are what blow me away. They say things I'd never say anonymized and they do it fully revealing their identities. Fascinating.

boards were great but the over the limit rules vs free to people that didn't no any better caused people to leave them. I think it time for a board come back as all the idiot are now on facebook.
