Power commander - Is it needed?

I have a 09 zx14 with a single sided muzzy m10 slip on. I have the stock headers- capped off one end. Is a power commander really needed? it drives fine but I wonder if I could be hurting anything long term not having a power commander and having the bike mapped.

Nah, you don't need it. You may squeeze an extra horse or 2 out of it but you're not gonna hurt anything.

Although... I'm confused at the idea of having one side capped odd. The exhaust flow must be atrocious. I'd be alot more worried about that than having a PC.

Well the header goes 4 into 1 than splits into 2 at the very end. I capped off the one end. What would exhaust flow be bad be concerning?

there's a lot of engineering into that header... why would you change it's flow?

Not bad in terms of "you're gonna damage stuff" I think but that has got to lose some power what with the flow being all buggered. If you capped it by actually cutting it off at the joined and covering the hole with a smooth piece I imagine it wouldn't be too bad, but that open intersection has gotta cause all kinda flow problems.

That said, at the end of the day it's not like you don't have power to spare, so if you're happy with what ya got, more power to ya.
