Stumped

Have a issue with the front brake master cylinder. After a couple days the brakes will loose pressure .Easy fix is to just loosen the bleeder on top and 1 pull of lever then the air is out. I've put a zip tie on the lever and hold pressure overnite and its fine .. Its never lost fluid I left the bike dirty for weeks to find the lost fluid nothing. But it always gets air into it if left sitting for a while. The last fix on another bike was to change master cylinder but I never found the issue. Of why it keeps getting air into system.

Will it pump up without bleeding? Could it be a bent rotor? If holds pressure while zip tied.. will it also hold pressure if the bike is not moved and it is not zip tied? If it is a bent rotor moving the front wheel at all will move the rotor to a different run out offset and push those pads back a little.

no rotors are not bent . no moving of the bike "parked not touched"and it still loses prime. must bleed to get brakes back . I've had bent rotors on other bikes and know what to look for but its not them. some how I think its sucking air at the fitting that the reservoir hose is at on the master cylinder. I've thread taped the bleeder beside it and changed it out . the only air in the system is always at that top bleeder

Sounds like the master needs to be rebuilt.
The seals are not doing their job anymore.

Do you have to bleed the system to get the pressure back or can you simply pump the lever to get the pressure?

Yeah sounds like something is up with the master.
I think somehow its sucking air maybe from the reservoir.

Nissin .I had 2 of these that acted that way and both had the common denominator of gel fluid built up on the piston. between the 2 rubber seals . 1 had it on the little spring part that works a check valve when the piston moves and on the head surface of the check valve. both insides were dirty but both had clean fluid and both were from bikes that sat for awhile .after cleaning and reinstall they are both still working. I think I may have fixed them I'm unstumped

so far its still working but I think It feels a little mushier today than yesterday . so I re-bleed it and it did harden up. maybe leftover air from install . but I doubt it wishful thinking

My Triumph had the same kind of problem, never could cure it, sold the bike. Done. I would go with a Brembo master, killer quality but at a price.

Hi Robert,

on the way to the race track with the bike in a enclosed trailer a tie strap broke and the bike fell and destroyed its fairings . in a fit of rage after discovering this I destroyed the rest of the bike. I had work for 2 months and a lot of money putting a mint 07 zx14 together to have this happen on the 1st run to the track. I will finish it off tomorrow then haul it to the scrap yard
