Oliver,

Two year cycles peaked 'when the money wasn't real' . $99 down and $99 per month for 2 years sold 1.2+ - MILLION motorcycles per year in 05/06 and we have slip backwards steadily ever since. We are looking at around 400K units per year now (mostly Harley), it's simply cost-prohibitive. Add to that the fact that 'big bikes' take much longer to develop than, let's say a 300, 500 or 650, and 'we' end up waiting much longer to get our speed fix (Gen 1 Busa took 9 years for a real update, ZX-14 took 6 years). Sportbikes sales have decreased 70% or more - yet again, business. If I had a product that dropped off in sales that much, I would discontinue it and move on to something that DID sell...

To expand on what Brock said, I would love to see Kawasaki stand on Suzuki's throat for while.....

NO ONE living would rather see me wrong here and Brock right more than I, but it's just not going to happen. The 10R is stagnant already and they have already released the 2015 model 2 months back with BOLD NEW GRAPHICS!! and now the 14R is following suit with BOLD NEW GRAPHICS!

Where I will agree with Brock 100% is Kawasaki have a perfect opportunity to choke the living shit out of everyone if they had any intentions at all of doing so but the 2015 model year seeing NOTHING but decals being changed should prove to anyone paying attention they don't much care about giving anyone anything more. Hell they could at least improve upon what they have past decals. Put some nice shocks, forks, and brake parts on the thing. Offer a 10R that's like the BMW HP4 model.. Offer a 10R with top of the line parts including light weight wheels, Brembo brakes, Ohlins on both ends, The same swingarm that they race WSB with instead of that BS one they sell because they need the room the racing swingarm takes up for that HUGE exhaust system that get's JUNKED 1st thing anyway. Fix that RETARDED windscreen that sits above the fairing instead of under the plastic where the race bike fits.

Point is they could improve the stuff they already make very easily if their give a damn wasn't broken. The 14R could just as easily be offered in an upgraded offering with some nice parts like listed above and it would sell.

I'd love to see some "real" trick parts on factory bikes, like carrozzeria wheels and ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes etc. I just don't see that happening, look at the 30th anniversary bike its already pushing 16,000 dollars. Add on some suspension parts and your North of 20 grand. Only a limited number of people are going to able or willing to afford that much money for what is a luxury seasonable recreational vehicle. Motorcycle prices are already sky high..

Speaking of BMW and the S1000RR. That bike forced Kawasaki to step it up with the 10R since it was such a rocket and they weren't afraid to NOT limit the thing as sold. However for reasons I'll never understand they parked their WSB team at last years end just as they were winning on a regular basis. The BMW was only successful on the WSB level it seems as well. From what I read along the way several teams made the switch to the BMW but couldn't ever get any factory support to make the bike a winner it could have been. As you know Brock the motor is awesomely fast kinda reminds me of the 04/05 ZX10R in that regard. Both bikes had killer motors but never really showed a lot of success on the road race tracks like one would have expected.

Since BMW just dropped most all factory involvement with the S1000RR in WSB I have to question whether they'll follow up the S1000 with another rocket? Looking at it from that angle it appears they aren't interested in continuing sown that path. I would be surprised if they built a replacement for the S1000 at this point for those reasons.

The most impressive bike on the market as far as sport bikes go at the moment is the Mission RS ELECTRIC POWERED motorcycle! It's got great range and the performance rivals anything on the market that burns fuel.... In my opinion the only thing Mission needs to do to become an instant MUST HAVE for all true sport bike lovers is add a gear box to their package! That thing already performs awesome with only direct drive. If they added a gear box that would allow them to multiply that performance the way a transmission does a gas burning engine the thing would be a MONSTER and at the same time it should increase the range even more than the 150 mile it already has. That's as far as any of my sport bikes will get. The bikes have a built in charger that will recharge in 1 hour and a quick charge in 10 minutes. That will only get better as time goes on.. With HD releasing a new electric bike in the last few days and companies like Mission already ahead of the game Kawasaki and all the rest of the manufactures had better get busy releasing a very good, very fast, electric Sport bike. The mission is expensive but not that much more than a top of the line Ducati and NO MORE than many new Harleys sold off the floor today.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I'm excited about the new electric stuff.. Old fuckers like me don't care for all the noise like I once did.. LOL !!!

Oliver I do give you credit for not selling out like every other site did. All the other sites today are nothing but advertising popping up all over the page while you're trying to read something BAM!! a damn video pops up in the middle of the screen and there's no place to even get rid of the thing and if there is the X is so small and it's hiding right next to a link that you'll more than likely hit trying to hit the X that sends you to yet more advertising!!!!!!!!!! I HATE ADVERTISING !!!!!! If companies knew how people felt about having their crap forced on them to watch they would stop doing that crap.... I will go out of my way to NOT purchase products that are forced on me while I'm on the internet..

This place has always operated like PBS. If companies benefit from it, we hope they support it. I know it's a tough go because we don't censor shit, but companies need to take the good with the bad. That's also a tough pill to swallow for many.

Gunner,

Is 'Win on Sunday, sell on Monday' is an obsolete principle these days? Social Media makes everything about **ME**. If the BMW is winning the sales battle, every magazine shootout, killing it's counterparts on the street, track days, and court of public (social) opinion... why would you trash all of your profits on racing?

As soon as I get my ass kicked by an electric bike - I'll look at buying one... probably not until then. I do like technology! But I plan to put about 1200 miles on my Harley (in 5 easy days) in the Black Hills here in several weeks - until they can do that, I'm not interested either. They have more work to do - then maybe I'll warm up?

My family live in the Black Hills, Brock. Dad bought his place there in 1970. He lives up Rimrock Hwy ( in the Black Hills above Rapid City ) by Johnson Siding right off hwy 44. Depending on who you are riding with you probably will ride right past his house. The Hills are a wonderful place to ride ( on road-off road and snowmobiling ) but can be REAL crowded during the Sturgis Rally. I hope you have a great time and enjoy the country. Have fun and keep an "eyeball peeled" for the other guys......

Glad you like your Harley Brock are you following in George Bryce's foot steps trying to support the life style Sport Bikes built for you by making the big swap to HD when the sport bike riders pockets suddenly were deep enough for the next social leap? Hell George went from piloting a Funny Bike to his Fat Boy I suppose the leap really isn't that far for you if George made the one he made

The biggest misconception of win on Sunday, sell on Monday is the illusion that HD pulls over the eyes of every person that buys into that lie after every NHRA event. Brock you're not going to flip completely over the fence and start telling the world how insanely fast your HD is are you? Drinking that kool aid comes with a one way trip down an LSD laced highway built by Willy Wonka!

Not warming up to the electric motorcycles and realizing they are the only hope for the future of extreme high performance motorcycles is about like those that allowed the internet was just a fad when it first started. Moving from sport bikes to Harley's is a backwards move in technology that even Harley has accepted at this point as their development of an electric bike pretty much makes a bold statement of.

Charles,

I made it to Pactola last year:

Simply breathtaking.

When people think about Sturgis, they typically think 'party'. While there plenty of that going on, the roads, riding, scenery was simply spectacular. I rode 1100 miles in 6 days, and that was while 'working' (parked) 2 full days, also.

I'm really looking forward to this year.

Gunner,

No. Fast is FAST! I love going fast - my current Harley (2013 Road Glide) is different. It's relaxing - I listen to Pandora, hit my cruise control and enjoy going the speed limit. That said, I own THREE ZX-14's a Busa, a Bandit and an S1000RR. I find myself on the 14's here lately, getting my speed fix. The others are in various states of 'product testing' or disrepair and waiting to go to the track. I am going to build a 'fast' street Harley. But it's relative - remember, my Bandit ran in the 7's (fully street legal) almost 15 years ago... my idea of 'fast street bike' and the next guy, probably aren't the same

That said Brock it appears you have retained control of your senses. LOL!! Poor George drank a whole gallon of the HD KoolAid and he's for all intents and purposes lost his damn mind! He does nothing anymore but post garbage about insanely expensive HD motor builds that make X Hp and are X CI displacement and he actually believes all that torque is going to get that 800 PLUS pound pile of shit down the road ahead of anything larger than a 600cc STOCK jap sportbike! But he's making gigantic piles of cash selling those motors to the knuckle draggers so more power to him. My issue with that story is he knows better yet that love of the mighty dollar controls the words that he speaks. I would hate to think I had to spend 80K on a HD motor build just to lose to a stock 14R or 10R for that matter. Kawasaki makes some nice V twins Brock why the HD? Being a racer to the core as I suspect you are and understanding motors the way I suspect you do from all your success I would think you would have an issue with HD buying the rule book in the NHRA just to win on Sunday to sell on Monday? I know I do! Beating up little girls isn't anything to brag about just as beating someone with twice the displacement isn't anything to brag about, or racing outside the rules that every other manufacture are held to isn't anything to be proud of winning by doing..... NOPE! NO HD for those of us that believe in fair rules in racing... Supporting them in any way supports their cheating F*#K HD!

We have two turtles that we allow to live in our garden would that be the relative you speak of Brock? LOL!!!

I just fail to understand how anyone with any knowledge of racing can support a company like HD after the way they cheat their ass off every time the unload at an NHRA event with their one off HUGE displacement motors and win against the Suzuki's that are half their size? It's the biggest lie in motor sports and yet it's the biggest thing HD has to brag about
