2012 zx14r oil drain plug leak

Hey guys,
I have recently discovered that my oil drain plug has been slightly seeping oil. I have done all of the oil changes myself and have always used new aluminum gaskets and always torque to 22 ft lbs with a beam style wrench as per manual. The seepage is basically a wipe of the finger you can see a line of oil glistening. Ever so lightly, but after a few weeks, there is a slight buildup of gunk around there. I just swapped out washers with a new one, cleaned the area and after a short ride, the oils is back using the finger test, but it is very little. Is this normal?????? Is any leak really normal on a bike with 4,000 mile bought new and never raced???? I also noticed that the seam along the engine underneath has a very light residue of oil. Very slight, but it doesn't seem right. There is no leak on the floor, but not sure if there will be any constant seepage in these areas. I also checked the oil filter which is within specs and doesn't seem to be leaking. Could it be that the oil is actually coming from the engine above the drain plug???

Should I clean and coat the drain plug with a high heat rtv and ride the bike then check for oil to rule out the drain plug????

Do you guys get any residue like that around your drain plug after one ride??? Thanks!

Drain plugs don't weep, seep or leak in any shape or form. You need to check the surface for damage, check the threads for stripping & use a new/different washer. Also check the pan bolts for tightness. If it still leaks remove it & look for cracks, holes or defects. The valve covers are infamous for leaking but it's doubtful that it's leaking enough to reach the bottom of the motor. Clean it all up with Gunk then go for a ride & search for the leak.
