too much tire?

Been like a year since my last race, tried a m/t flat slick that i had sitting in my garage..every launch up to 7500rpms felt like the bike bogged, stock motor 06 zx... My buddy told me i wasnt hard enough on the gas, but is there such thing as too much grip? Or just more practice?

What gearing you running with the slick? sounds like you need more gearing,

he needs to go back to the street tire.
that tire is too tall for his gearing when he left hard the last pass it looked good.
Barona hooks good so that tire will drag the motor down as it did.
I'm 10 over and had no traction issues at all. I've always been told a flat slick on a stock bike without bars is a no no.

Well I hit a road block with my bike. It was too low and the fuel pump was hitting the swingarm so I had to stop racing because I didn't bring a jack with me to raise the bike back up.
The bike bike ran ok for it my first time racing.
Man I've got to send off my ecu to get it flashed if for nothing eles I don't have to remember to turn it off each pass. It was great to see the bike run 6.6 with it Low power mode I was laughing my but off when I seen the bike was in Low mode. First I thought the clutches were gone because the bike would not pull down the track then I noticed the L on the display.
It is too much a hassel to set traction control off before each pass .

the slick is waay taller, gear it accordingly or its going to feel kinda like taking off in second (well, not quite that bad)
