Cut tank questions?
I'm looking to put together a cut tank.
I've picked up a bare tank and am looking for a fuel pump.
I've got the chance of an 07 pump cheap but don't know if I can use it on my 09.
Are the pump specs the same and am I going to have issues if I get the longer pump?
The bike is lowered but not slammed but I assume they altered the (stock) undertail when they introduced the shorter pump?
Has anyone altered an 06/07 pump to sit higher in the tank?
I'm also thinking about the sender.
I don't need it in the cut tank but if I just block off the hole am I going to get an FI warning?
Is there some "fix" for the wiring to avoid this?

Sorry, I can't help on the pumps. I installed a 2010 pump in my cut-down 2010 tank. I did get the FI warning, a resistor can be added to the circuit to clear the light. I never did it but you may be able to find the correct ohm value by using the search feature.
Hopefully someone will chime in that knows if the older pumps will work in the late model tanks. If not, the newer style pumps come up on the forums and eBay pretty often.
Are you using the cut-down tank for drag racing or LSR? Just curious.
It was a great mod for me. With similar weather conditions I picked up 6mph at Loring with the only changes being the tank and BST's.
Good luck,
Dan

I did find this...

seems a 1k resistor should do the trick.

I can't find any mention of people doing it so I'm beginning to think there's good reason!
I can get a 2008> pump but they go for around £90 ($150) here in the UK
The earlier ones are around half that!

Mainly for a one off 200mph attempt but will probably get a few runs down the 1/4 too.
I'm a very unaerodynamic 300+ lbs so really struggle getting forward and low.
My bike is mainly for street use and touring so I'm looking to have a complete tank to swap over for track use.
