2012 ZX-14R Gearing for Landspeed
So I am a bit new to gearing bikes, and could use some experience and knowledge. Currently I am running stock gearing on my 2012 14R (17/42) I believe. It went 202 mph on the dyno before it was gear limited. I am looking to do some LSR (mile and 1.5 mile) next year and cannot decide whether to drop to a 41 or 40 tooth rear sprocket? Steel or aluminum? Will my stock chain need to be shortened? What brand? Will it affect my spedo or traction control systems at all? What type of chain is my stock chain (ie - 530, 520, 427)?
Forgive my ignorance.
Any and all extra info is really appreciated.
I've searched through many threads and haven't been able to find specific answers.

40T will do for the mile, in still air. For the 1.5 at least pick up a 39. My bike went 212.89 at the 1.5.
Steel or aluminum is fine. No problems with the traction control and the smaller rear sprockets. No affect on speedo. Your stock chain will be fine and it is a 530.
If you are a big guy, try +1 or +2 over the above sizes.
