Lowered / Stretched 1st gen

Quick question people. Excuse my ignorance here but I just installed an extended swing arm. Wheelbase is set at 65". Used lowering links to lower the bike. The front has NOT been lowered, I planned on dropping the tubes through the triple trees about one inch but the bike is currently sitting level. The fact that the front has not been lowered, is this something I should be concerned with? All help is appreciated. Thanks

not at all... lower them 1" in the trees, and put a radial mount strap kit on it for the track. I'm not sure what your weight is, but if you aren't a fly weight you are going to want to have your rear shock done. I used to run a heavy spring with great success but you really need some revalving done to your shock. What year model is the bike? If it's pre-2008 then the fuel pump will make contact with the swingarm unless you do something with the shock.

Ya, I'm a slender 270 before the trip to the buffet so I did have the shock re valved and a stiffer spring installed for my girth and amount of stretch. I was just concerned that the bike might ride goofy since I only lowered the back and not the front. But like I said it sits nice and level. As far as the strap goes, is that something I can ride on the street with or is that a install at the track only item?

I used to keep my strap installed all the time, if nothing else, you can keep the brackets on and then just pop the strap and two bolts on when you get to the track.

I have an 07 with a 69.5 wheel base lowered front and rear with 2" ground clearance and I have no issue with my shock hitting anything.

Another thing you want to think about is your oil pan. You don't want to end up on the side of the road, with oil all over your bike. "Been their done that " I got my oil pan cut down at OSR.
