Crank Shaft Timing Wheel
I laid my 06 zx14 down a month ago and I'm just getting around to working on it. I laid the bike down on the right side and in the process busted my crank shaft case (pulser cover). While replacing the cover I noticed that a tooth broke off on the timing wheel. Since nothing physically connects to the timing wheel teeth, is it a big deal that a tooth broke off?? If i do need to replace the timing wheel, where can i get a new one? The more feedback the better. Thx!!

The timing rotor has an area with no teeth. Should be 22 teeth on it with an open spot.

I do realize that there is an area where no teeth are present, but right next to it where the teeth start it lolks like there was a toothtthere, but it broke off. I have to go back in and count the teeth to see if I have 22 present. If not, is it a problem that the 1 tooth broke and if so where can I get a new or used timing rotor?

Rob that is the crankshaft timing rotor. There is a pickup coil that senses the rotor as it rotates (cause thats what rotors do). It's a hall effect sensor that varies voltage with a change in the magnetic field. Each time one of the teeth in the crankshaft rotor swings by it changes that voltage and relays it to the ECU in order to determine the position of the crankshaft..

1badzx12, Thx 4 ur help. My brother has a buddy who's holding 1 for me right now. It turns out that its called an IGNITION ROTOR, so I was calling it the wrong thing all this time and that's why I was having such a hard time finding one. Thx again though.
