what a day

was on 40 west n a heck of a rain storm at the big hill n see the oil light start to glow crap almost drop the bike oil water curves and 80mph anyway I pull the clutch n shut it off roll to an off ramp the drain plug is gone ! so do I replace the plug and oil or do I take her apart and look at the bearings ?

i'd just replace the plug and oil and if it starts to knocking i'd shut it down for a rebuild

i would at least have a peak at the rod caps to look for discoloration

man that sucks, but how did you lose the drain plugs?

I've done the same thing on another bike. I just replaced the plug, and added oil. Might have to break the oil filter loose on start up.

Tear it apart for a big bore/stroker kit, you know you need it.

In 44 yrs of riding bikes I've never heard of that happening (I've poured oil into a motor and had it go all over the floor of my garage cause I fogot to put the drain plug in and I saw a buddy on a 12 hit a manhole cover with a lowered bike and tear the pan right off - oil loss was immediate) but unless possibly someone forgot to tighten the plug after an oil change, how the hell did the plug fall out?
