Rotella Oil
Someone give me some input on Rotella Oil....... Rebuilding my 2006 ZX14 that spun a Bearing !!!!!
What is the best Oil for the Beast !

Rotella T6 is good afordable stuff, amsoil and motul also make great products at a premium price ... I'm no expert, and am fairly new to the 14R, but used. rotella for many years on the busa, with no problems ...

Did the oil you were using cause the spun bearing? If so what was it, I'm sure the rest of us don't want to use it.
If not what's the reason for switching, maybe a bit more security?
Rotella, amsoil, mobil 1, that purple stuff take your pick all great oils. My favorites are castral edge or Valvoline both full synthetics and 10/40.

My 2012 bike is up to around 1000 miles, it's done one LSR meeting and is now due another oil change. It had the original lubricant from Kawasaki up to the first service at 600 miles, before the bike was raced, when it was filled with Rock Oil semi-synthetic by the dealer.
I've ordered a can of Castrol Power 1 Racing, 5W 40. It's a fully synthetic and available by special order only. It's about £75 ($115) per 5 Litre can and Castrol make some impressive claims for its performance. I can't get the Alisyn over here in the UK, the oil which Brock recommends, so I thought I'd try the oil that's used by the Honda Britain race team. I was at a seminar given by one of their top development engineers the other month and according to him they have no engine blow-ups or problems with their race engines attributable to this lubricant.

Another spun bearing. Is the older bikes showing some weakness now? Man what happened to your bike resulting in the spun bearing?
Bob I also used Castrol Power 1 racing and could feel the difference in acceleration as they claim. Changed now to Liquid Molly and am also impressed at this stage. Need to get more miles on it to make a proper evaluation of the oil.
I don't think oil will make a big difference when there is a problem somewhere as long as you use a decent recommended oil.

My Castrol Power 1 Racing 5W-40 came in today, was given a good discount, only £55 for 5 litres. I've got the Brocks clutch mod to install too, thanks Brock, so I'll be spending a couple of hours in the garage in the next day or two.

73,000 miles on my '10 Concours14 with Rotella JASO motorcycle rated oil.
At 200,000 miles I'm parting the bike out on ebay....thanks Shell/Rotella!

I was useing Amsoil and that was not my problem.
I was told that zx14 has a problem with how the the oil pump is connected to the engine, it seams that the the pump does not have a gasket between itself and the engine , during normal rideing conditions the engine heats and cools which allows oil to be returned to the oil pan without being detected, as a result vital engine parts are being starved for oil, My engine light never came on, I started to hear a slight tick in the motor wich sounded like a loose header bolt or crimped header gasket, after a week or so it got louder . After the engine was taken apart it revealed a spun bearing Their is a after market mod to prevent this I am told so that was the first thing I told my engine guy I wanted...
If anyone has Info please share it with me!!!!
Not sure on what year models have this problem but I have an 06 zx14!!!!!

Snail from LAB will also give a recommendation for Rotella. He uses it on his LSR bike. I've used it for the last few oil changes without complaint too, and can't beat the price.
SteveWFL, 200k mikes on a 2010. that's insane.

There is no bad oil. Some are just more exceptional than others.

more important to me than the brand....is i run the oil a 1/2 qaurt more than level.
i have used rotella for years and like it
if money was no object...ide run motul 300v.....but again,i run my oil to the top of my window....and i did my best to copy Doug's oil pipe to return pickup,on my zx11......just for added safety in wheelies,quick launches,and high rpm runnin
so what every bike i have....
1-check oil alot,and keep on the high side
2-if running a built motor and/or a wheelie freak.....oil pan mods

I rebuilt a 14 a while back that had spun a rod bearing because his motor didn't pick up the oil after an oil change. His oil light stayed on too long. I've seen this happen several times. If your oil light doesn't go out immediately after an oil change, loosen the filter and few rounds, crank the bike for a second and oil should gush out around the filter. Tighten it back up and you should be good to go. Everything I build gets Rotella. Seems most rod bearings I see die from lack of oil.

Rotella is great stuff. There's a couple pro-street owners on psychobike that run rotella. Honestly, if it's good enough for them, its good enough for me. 600+ hp on those bikes btw....

Been using rotella in 2 suzukis, 1 kawi, and one aprilia with no problems. Also was running it in my gto and truck.
