Michigan Mile
Running Michigan Mile July 4th weekend. I need some rules help. Does anybody have a rule book from Maxton, Texas, Bonneville, etc....?
1. They want the front axle safety wired. Fine, but how? I was thinking wire the two pinch bolts together on both sides
2. They think they want metal zippers on zip together leathers. I have Hein Gericke with YKK plastic or so they seem. I would like to know if this is a common SOP. They said if I find it approved elsewhere I can run it. Suit is at the leather shop waiting for an official answer.

Here is the Loring Timing Association rule book:

7.C.2 Leathers:
A: Leathers suitable for the application are required.
B: One-piece suits or two-piece suits zippered together are allowed.
C: Required over 175 MPH:
1: One piece or two-piece leathers with full (270 degree) zipper.
2: Special protective armor, with a minimum of coverage at
elbows, knees, shoulders, hips and back.
3: Undergarments having the required armor coverage are acceptable.
4: Full spine protection in required. Aerodynamic humps will not meet spine protection requirement.
D: Perforated leathers and leathers with vents are allowed. Vents must be in place and zippered shut.

as i'm reading it you have to have 1 piece leathers.

I have a very good two-piece suit that I use on the road but for a one-mile race I use a proper race suit and a back protector. If your budget won't stretch to racing leathers you should be aware that a two-piece can come apart if you go down. The meeting organisers have to show a duty of care and some responsibility, hence the rules. Safe riding everybody.
