Chain suggestion for street based 14
Looking at chains for my 14. I am setting up to go +6 as soon as my arm gets here from Evil. From what I read I am looking at 150 link, correct? Stock gearing for now, and if/when I change it won't be too drastic. I was suggested the RK GB530GXW by a guy on my local board. Looks pretty impressive. I am going to be riding a lot of street/highway miles with only the occasional track day and street pulls. Looking for opinions as far as to length and chain options. 530 only. Just want something strong and that will give me thousands of trouble free miles with proper maintenance and upkeep.
Thanks all.

Looking at this DID because I really don't want a gold chain. My bike is all black or raw metal finish so I think the nickle chain would be a nice touch.

To ahead and get a Ek zzz. One of the best chains you can buy. Worth every penny.

Chain is not one of the components to skimp on...... My 85 FJ1100 had a window knocked in the motor from a broken chain.

^^^+1 on EK ZZZ. I followed Eklpise' advice two years ago and I've never been sorry. Super strong and foolproof installation as long as you get a good chain tool.
Spacers and rivet head gauge for safe installation. No guesswork with your life. Will run smooth no kink articulates smooth.

Stronger than OEM....It's been over 20,000 miles of street and sport use. I have needed to adjust mine just one time. No drag launches but I do plenty of power wheelies and WOT.
About the same weight as OEM.
EK ZZZ a link or two longer than OEM to fit a 45T sprocket + keep stock wheel base. Also packed with litheum grease which must add about 1.5~ 2 ounces.

OEM to fit 41T sprocket.

My ZZZ is chrome. Still looks as new as when I put it on.

I am very curious to compare weight with DID. If DID came with a system for perfect installation like the EK ZZZ, I'd try that one....I'm sure DID is also a fine chain and you can get a model that is better than OEM. I may try DID next time but this ZZZ is wearing so slow, I think It may last the life of the bike.

Rook is right, I NEVER adjust my chain. I put a rear tire on about every 12-18 months. If it wasn't for that I would never touch the chain adjusters.

I am totally okay with spending good money for getting a good product. I understand that a chain isn't something to try and pinch pennies on. I am between the EK ZZZ and the DID. Mostly just because I want to avoid a 'chrome' chain but it doesn't look bad in those pictures.
You guys think going 6 over I will need a 150 link?
Thanks for the advice, it is appreciated.

Just ask when you order the chain. Ek zzz comes in silver or gold, which ever one you prefer.

That came with the EK ZZZ 530 pitch chain. I believe it was 180 link I bought (cut some off for stock swingarmand 45T). Chrome finish.
They should be included with every EK chain. I just talked to a friend who told me he bought one that did not come with the spacers and guage....so I would ask before you pay....that is a big help even if you have riveted chains before. You can squash the rivet plenty wide and not worry about the plates and roller binding. Safe and no guesswork.

I got 150 link ZZZ a few months ago with 2 master links and there were none of those goodies.

I bought a Tsubaki chain. I got a good deal at a local bike shop. My chain is silver. I don't care for the gold myself. I got the 150 link and my bike is stretched out about 10 to 11 inches and I took a link out. If your using extensions I would get the 140 link. I also read on the fourm that if you go with the ZZZ chain you cant use Vortex sprockets. Look around and fine what works best for you. Don't use the cheap master link that clips together. Use the rivet kind

i used the zzz chain with vortex sprockets. I only use vortex and i drag raced every weekend. never had one problem with them. i agree with the rivet master link but believe it or not ALOT of big nitrous and turbo bikes at the track use the clip master link.

Whoever told you that you can't use zzz chain and vortex sprockets isn't the best person to be giving advice...
My chain/sprocket combo is now 6 years old with a shit ton of drag strip passes and couple thousand street miles. No issues so far.
