Yeah, and kaw killed them.

kaw had the capital to invest and the Intellect to build unquestionable better product two models in a row in every major class in a very down market. They also let it be known "by way of patents" that they could and would do it repeatedly until Suz folded. (brilliant!)

Suz can't compete, and is making the best move they can; which is keep the cash they still have and pulling out of the market and hope for much much better economic time in the future or for a buyer to come along while their brand Name still has its appeal.

They'll be ok, I mean every brand has a fan base, loyalty per say, I would say that leaving the 1000 basically unchanged for what 6 years didn't help, hell, didn't they even skip 2011-12 model of gsxr 1000, why buy a new/same as previous year bike lol, for the color options? They sell paint everyday, meanwhile I see quite a few zx14r for sale, plus what's the freaking insurance(the real party killer for buying new) going to be, buy a leftover, or private sell, cheaper insurance n R&D of having a bike that most likely is already setup with pipe/PC/etc, I love Suzuki for the ease of working on, darn frame for airboxdesigb kinda blows lol, but I do own a zx14, I'd b just as happy wit a Suzuki,

Looks like the Hayabusa is unchanged for 2014 as well. Kawi does not have to worry!

From dealer news....

Suzuki begins cutting motorcycle, ATV dealers

Publish Date:
Mar 20, 2013

By Mary Slepicka

BREA, Calif. - Suzuki will be culling its U.S. dealer network after its Chapter 11 reorganization is finalized later this month, Dealernews has learned.
Dealers this week began receiving letters from American Suzuki Motor Corp. (ASMC) notifying them whether their franchise would be picked up by Suzuki Motor America Inc., which is the name of the reorganized company and designated the "purchaser" in the Chapter 11 filing.
"ASMC is assuming certain dealer agreements and other contracts and assigning them to Purchaser, while the majority of ASMC's contracts will be rejected," states the letter, which was obtained by Dealernews. Dealers whose contracts are not being renewed are being told that their franchise agreements will be rejected and they will no longer be authorized Suzuki dealers as of March 31.
Cancelled dealers have until March 27 to file an "Other Settling Creditor Claim" to receive $10,000 in compensation. Suzuki also stated it will repurchase cancelled dealers' new motorcycle and ATV inventory, plus parts and accessories.
Dealernews has contacted Suzuki for additional information and is awaiting a response.

Our dealership lost Suzuki. Now they have Kaw, Yam, and Honda. No Suzuki. who knows. The Hayabusa will have to be upgraded again to compete with the 14R. If they are smart they will. You have to invest for the future.

Come to think of it, there used to be at least three suzuki dealers within a few miles of my house while growing up, I stilll live approx. in the same area, and now there are none ! and its been that way for a while, and I live in So. CA. It's hard to sell bikes, if there are no dealers around ! the closest one is at least a half hour away, closest honda/yamaha is about 5 mins (or less) right down the street, and the kawasaki is not far either ....

Thanks for bringing this up Fish. A friend of mine is a Kawasaki and Suzuki dealer. I've bought all the new Kaws I've ever purchased from him. I guess I need to call him to see what's going on with his Suzuki part of the business.

Good news is he's already a Kawasaki dealer. Might be exclusive Kawasaki now, huh? Well, as long as he's got Kawasaki I'll be first in line when the zx15 or zx16 comes out to combat the new Hayabusa.......wait a minute......no more Suzuki??? Does this mean that the developmental side of Kawasaki will shut down too because of no competition???? I guess I'm going to have to make my own ZX15 (1534cc) or ZX16 (1570cc) now. Hey Jim @ CompCNC, you busy this afternoon????
