I wish I could understand what they were saying. The last two races the BMW was pulling hard on the 14r and actually passes it. The first races the 14r seemed to be pulling away. I wonder if it was just the weight of the riders that caused this or if there was a difference in rider skill as well. That would explain the first races' outcomes also. Translator? Please???

Both great bikes, I would have a BMW if I could afford two bikes, but for me the 14 made more sense, and we know howneasy it is to get more HP out of the 14, I dont think it is a easy to get more HP out of the Beeemer, I may be wrong, I am no expert, one thing for sure, that BMW is one fast 1000 ! and the 14 is one fast BIG bike ! normally a 1000 would pull a bigger/heavier big off the line, bit it didnt seem so easy with the 14, I know these are stock bikes, just saying ....

The power band on the SThou has been improved for 2012/12 for better low to mid range but it's still no Honda CBR 1000 in that area. The Bimmer will for the most part blow past the 14 if left to run long enough, and the Bimmer hit's its REAL power band around 10K
It is a fact that BOTH of these bikes will blow away amost anything else on the road in stock trim. Sadly I no longer own the 14R pictured below, but it was a fun 12 months and 8K miles.

Beautiful Beemer ! If it was not an extra $4000-$5000, I would have bought the BMW, but I was at my limit, but I may be coming into some money soon, so if I can get a decent deal, who knows ? I mean I really dont go for any extremely long rides, and the BMW is one of the most comfortable 1000's I have sat on .....

You obviosuly got fondled as a young child by a male relative, and now have to vent your sad frustrations on a ZX14 site.
Notice noone has fed you your "troll-eoes" today or for your past few comments?
You've been ignored.
oooooOooh... must sting.
And now, just now..... you'll be ignored yet again.
Lol.

I can tell you that I have raced two S1000s when I was bone stock and beat them both and one had a P/C and expensive exhaust. Since then I have flashed my ecu and put a Brocks full exhaust but nothing else. The one Beemer has now gotten a P/C tuned it installed BST carbon fiber wheels on both ends full exhaust and we raced on Sunday and I still beat him ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGH END. Now his is a 2011 but with all his changes I don't expect a new one would be any faster. So NO they are not faster anyplace during the race bottom to top.

Stating the obvious by claiming the 1000rr beats the 14 on a race course....even a zx6 beats a 14R on a road race course.
Put them on the strip, put them on the streets light to light, hwy roll-ons, top end runs I think its pretty obvious the 14R walks away.
Remember you can't slant the argument by putting a jockey on the 1000rr and a fat guy who can't ride on the 14R and call it a real comparision. The 14 just keeps pulling...and while the 1000 pulls hard its not beating the 14r in a straight line contest. Lets get real.

And one thing to consider, you can drop about 20-25 lbs. with just an exhaust change on the 14, your not going to get it down to the bmw's weight or wheelbase, but it wasn't made or meant to be that kind of bike, but it is amazingly fast !
It is the most nimble big bike I have ever ridden, I had 10+ years on a hayabusa too ...

Yeah well said. They are two very different bikes with very different purposes. I loved the 14R for it's straight line and acceptable handling in the curves, but for me it wasn't as "fun" to ride as the S1000RR, since I much prefer riding in the twisties and do very little straight line riding and no drag racing.

True the 14R is extremely comfortable. It is the sport touring bike one up for all time or a straight line missle if you prefer. I could ride that bike across the country without question.
No liter bike is going to compare in the comfort area, so no one should be mislead by the BMW roundel that it's anywhere close to as comfy.
That said, I don't find it uncomfortable. It's a matter of getting used to a more committed and aggressive riding position and I ride it 200-300 miles with stops only for gas every Sunday morning with no issues
