Picked something up on the track last week and put a hole through the radiator, can I run it without this weekend??
So I wont be getting my rad back in time to run this saturday. Question is can I make passes without the radiator this weekend?
No hot lapping, just make a pass ride back to pits and let it sit for an hour or so. Will this work or will I damage something?

I would advise you to cancel until you have the rad back. There's a good chance of engine damage, is it really worth it?

i wouldnt ride it back. my bike is dry blocked now. im pushed to the line. fire it up do the burnout stage and leave. i kill the motor as soon as i pass the traps and get pushed back. it still gets pretty warm from that.

We ran ours dry for a few weekends but eventually looped the lower hose around behind the motor and turned the thermo housing backwards and filled it with water. I hasn't ever gotten hot that way and I feel like it helps to keep down "hot spots". To answer exactly what you asked, no it won't hurt anything as long as your not ridding it to the line or up the return road but I wouldn't want to run it dry permanetly.

It would be great if I could do this and run this weekend. Do you have any pics of what you did?
I see that I could flip the thermo housing and run a hose behind the motor and then do something to get it down to the pump. Did you keep the over flow bottle? And after doing this how did you fill the system with water?
thanks

Mine is in a drag bike frame so I'm not sure that you will have the room to do it that way. I just put a "T" with a radiator cap inline in the hose to fill with water. Yes I used the over flow tank but from my experience you could get away with a much smaller tank than the factory one. I do have an over flow line run from the over flow tank routed to the rear of the bike just in case it actually over flowed. Send my your email and I'll send you a couple pic's that might help. trSPAMganey@yahooSPAM.com just take out the spam.

I'd say no but if u were to do it I'd get one of the cool down fans or make a cool down box with quick disconnects . We do it with sleds onto at run on asphalt

Lol I do that to sleds if they annoy me , do a longer burn out or stage slow and they heat up and slow down. Cheap trick but some times they deserve it .

I've seem mine run a long time before the pass and according to the RacePak data logger it's never run hot. I know there is always a first time! I just didn't like the idea of not distributing the heat as evenly as possible. That's why we run the close loop system without the radiator. If it does heat up we have an overflow tank and it's over flow is routed out the rear. Hope we never need it.

your not a true dry block by some standards .. that 1lb of water has to go the 2lb pump is also too heavy..

We are not a true dry block now but we were running it without any water at all for a while. As for hauling the weight I suppose your right if you run a true heads up class and need every bit of performance you can get but we only have to run 8.20 for our index. We have ran some 7.90's during test and tune shifting at 10k thus the need for the electronic throttle stop. Not bad for a NA 2X4 that is otherwise mostly all stock parts. These motors never cease to amaze me!
