Well that seems like a design flaw then. Perhaps they should have electronics to detect that situation (hard braking) and help make it so that the rear brake contributes as well.

It would be kinda cool if they had a switch to synchronize the brakes so that you could use either the hand or foot brake levers and it would actuate both at the same time and in the proper proportion. If the driver wanted manual control of each individual brake, they would flip the switch back for "normal" operation of the brakes.

I also think it would be cool if the bike had a temporary parking brake so when you are at a red light on a slight hill, it would hold the bike still and automatically release when you pull in the clutch lever. For long red lights that would be beneficial so it frees up both hands so maybe you could check your cell messages or get a drink from your backpack... It would also allow you to keep both feet planted on the ground for safety (imagine a big heavy cruiser bike).

Emailing Kawasaki now... lol.

I tell you what. I'm 200 lbs. you get a zx14 and go as fast as me without turbo or nitrous and then come talk to us about being jealous. Don't let your head get too big for your shoulders!
Hell, you get ANY bike and post your et and I will post my fastest et.
Until then get the fuck outta here with that jealousy crap.
I tell you what, I've been faster in the 1/4 mile than you have on any open road. That's a fact.

quote:
Somehow I get the feeling many people posting here are 200+ pounds and are jealous of me being about 170 suited up. My true bodyweight (unsuited) is low 160s.

So my bike will be getting some "trick" parts soon so I'll have to reshoot a pic. I think it is shaping up very nicely and it runs great. Probably the best bike I ever owned. I think the Engineers did a great job except for a few things...

1) VIN is upside down when viewed (from the throttle side and while behind the throttle).
2) The speed sensor is near the sprocket, not on the front wheel which is bad.
3) They didn't leave enough room for a 19T (+2) front sprocket.
4) It could use more storage space.
5) Programming the gauge cluster is not as straightforward as it should be.
6) Shift light should have 2 triggers, a low RPM and a high RPM such as 7500 and 10K.
7) Low fuel warning should have an override so you can still see other functions.
8) Gearbox should have a wider range (closer to 3:1 between low and high gears).
9) Belly pan design should be better so when removed, doesn't look like a linkage issue.
10) Why did they use old technology AGM batteries as stock?

Other than those (and a few others that don't come to mind right now), I really like the bike.

So maybe after I get my bike all lightened up the way I want it and with the exhaust plug, maybe I'll make a few 1/4 mile passes to see how rusty I am after 20 years of not drag racing. Who thinks out of maybe 3 runs I'll get lower than 10 seconds? Any predictions on E.T. and MPH? I think with my bike and me being light, I should post some decent MPH.

Who thinks I can get 9.99 (or better) and 140 MPH (or better) after about 20 years of not being at the dragstrip?

Could you please repeat the question?

I've gone faster than that at 211lbs on my old zx14 that's stock motor.

Nobody "won". Check the tense of the verb I used. I never GO more than 150 MPH meaning current and future. That doesn't mean I haven't gone faster in the past.

I didn't say I've never gone faster than 150 MPH. Work on your sentence semantic skills.

It is very flat here in FL and I could go out tomorrow on a nice long road and do 180+ MPH if I really wanted to but I just don't want to. My life is worth more to me than that. A deer could come out into the road and then they might have to scrape me off the pavement with a putty knife. I hate when that happens.

I think at 70 MPH I would survive a deer impact. I've seen a video of that happening to a bike rider and it killed the deer and just did minor damage to the bike with no injury to the rider.

Of course if the deer was already dead and in the road I would either drive around it or try to wheelie over it.. That is a little hard to do at high speeds but 70 might work.

Is that a fact, maybe you should talk to an acquaintance of mine who hit a deer at a lot less than 70.

You are truly retarded.

I hope someone scrapes you off the road soon, the benefits will be twofold, we won't have to see your stupid postings, and you will no longer be polluting the gene pool.

Crap man, I just realized this mess started out as a legit thread. I am sorry I contributed to this garbage. I hope you find a set of wheels. I used the OSR kit, I had them machine a rear brake hanger and I also bought the grudge spacer for track duty. I have couple of extra sprockets for these wheels if you end up needing one. I got lucky and a buddy is putting an R1 rear wheel to sort of match his CBR900RR front wheel, and got his set up pretty cheap.

Seriously, a battle of wits? Do not challenge someone to a battle for which you are ill equipped. And you have shown us how poorly equipped you are in the wits department after all the comments that you have made here that make no sense or contradict themselves, the asinine comebacks, childish retorts, etc., ad nauseum.

I will have to remember that next time I see a dead animal in the road. Just "wheelie" over it.
Does the same work with small cars? I know it would be tough on a truck or SUV..

Running down a 1/4 mile makes you people intelligent? HA! Half of you appear to not even be able to spell correctly. My IQ is well above 100 so I am smarter than the average bear. I never claimed to be a motorcycle mechanic and not knowing a lot about bikes doesn't make me a retard and other people knowing more about bikes than me doesn't make them smart.

I think anyone that spends a lot of money on a bike just to make it go fast down the 1/4 mile has questionable brain function. What is the point of that? A stretched bike steers like crap on the street. Why would you "ruin" a bike that the Engineers so carefully designed? My ZX-14 is almost stock and that is pretty much how it will stay.

I'm still waiting for an example of a contradiction I made.

I don't see any senseless comments made by me either. Some people may not agree with what I am attempting on my bike but that doesn't make what I am attempting senseless.

People here make accusations but without any facts to back them up. You people seem to think that any mod that doesn't make a bike go faster down the 1/4 mile is "senseless". Well guess what people, there are a lot of street riders that think drag racers are "retards".

You might have a high "IQ" but that means nothing in the real world. You can be as "book smart" as anyone, but if you can't put it into the real world it doesn't mean shit.

Sounds like dumb "logic" to me. How can someone that thinks they know something really know nothing? Knowing how to drag race well is not the "real world" and by no means, no "yardstick" (indicator) of intelligence.

Drag racing has been around for a long time so all the "secrets" are well known, thus backing up my point. Calling someone that doesn't do well at a dragstrip an idiot or retarded is dumb. Perhaps they are just inexperienced and/or not really interested.

I don't read up on all the latest and greatest tricks but I am reasonably confident I could run in the high 9s on my ZX-14 in street form and without any burnout and even with my partially plugged exhaust system. I wouldnt be surprised at all if I ran 9.99 at 140ish within 3 passes and not having been at a dragstrip for about 20 years and even with my front lightened up with the 10 wheel and Power Pure 60 profile tire and maybe even 1 front brake rotor/caliper combo.

Your not stupid for now knowing how to race, your stupid because of EVERYTHING you type. I don't remember one thing you have said that makes you sound like you have any sense whatsoever.

FYI, I only have done to my bike what you can see, no special tricks. It's just a et bike.
