experts wouldn't need 2 to unlock the bike ..and wouldn't be stealing zx14's ..and damn sure wouldn't wear baggy pants with their underwear hanging out looking into a camera.. this is an insurance job done by the owner..

Smells like an insurance job. There was no real effort in braking the steering lock and even if you do it wouldn't start simply but the break. I believe either a key was used or the steering lock and key assembly were pre-broken before the theft.

The sloping walk by 'fatty' would be known to a few people...
Be interesting to know (if we ever do), how he bypassed the igniton etc.
Might be something for other ZX14 riders to consider....
Even though i dabble in electronics - and would have to think about it:
It wouldn't be that hard to cable in a 'delayed relay switch - DRS' that would be pressed once sitting on the bike and ready to drive off.
A small control box no bigger than a box of matches. Whereby you would press two buttons of your choosing (Hi Beam and Start), for say 1 second, this would light a small LED on the dash (might be left indicator), 'arm', that would remain there for 5 secs.
Then you could turn the ignition key and go. Once 'fired up', it would reset (dormant), untill power (ignition) ,is off.
In all of the stealing, the battery to the ecu have to talk - forget about the ignition key!
No one seems to think about the ignition coils...
To make it, no more than $20. Sales, marketing etc - retail $150.
