Turbo ZRX1200 has started ..

Turbo ZRX1200 has started .. 8 to 9 PSI boost pump gas , It should make close to what a piped and tunned Gen 1 zx14 makes on that boost ( 175 to 180 HP ) It is going to be a street bike just to play on the street .. I'm sure it will hit the track now and then ...

I loved my Turbo ZRX11. I had the best luck with Keihin 39 FCR carbs. The roller slides work much better for a blow through setup. With the factory carbs I could never get them exactly where I wanted. The FCR's ride like a stock bike but with alot more power. Unless your using FI from an old ZX11 MR Turbo kit? The only other thing I did to mine was use a ZX9 Swingarm and shock/suspention setup with the wider 6" inch wide wheel.

No flat slides or EFI ... Stock carbs and jetting stays very close to stock thanks to a little thing called a pitot tube installed in the air box in stream .. It makes the CV carbs work like stockers off boost .. I had the same problem with the first ZRX turbo i had as you did , i could never get the bike dailed in right .. But with this system it makes tunning very easy .. 105 mains for hot temps and 109s for cold temps , that keeps the A/F at 11.9 to 12 on boost and off boost around 13.6 ..

Yes i had read about having that tube installed. But never did. It was good enough to go to the track on. My bandit had the old style Mr Turbo drawthrough and was a good system back in tbe day. FI was made for a turbo.

Very cool build.... here is my builder/tuners turbo zxr1200.{NO HE DID NOT BUILD IT}.. he had a bking for sale.... the gentlemen that built it traded it for the bking.

It has a stock motor with turbo kit on 10 psi 233whp/137wtq! its pretty nasty!! 62" long and spins like crazy.. He took it too the track for some fun. Between either spinning or wheeling his best pass was 9.7@148

You guys shouldn't do this to me, now I am really missing my blue 03 ZRX.

The bike is looking good, Lee, can't wait to see the finished product.

You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

Got a bit more done today , got the oil pan on and plumbed for the oil to the turbo and the oil return to the pan ..The new pan was drilled tapped for the oil cooler the was used on the old ZX11s.. That way i don't need a extra pump to evac the oil from the turbo ..

Then the shit hit the fan , my bike lift took a dump ... I couldn't jack it up to remove the locking rod .. Thinking it might be low on hyd oil a added some but still would not jack up anymore .. I had to use a floor jack on the back of the lift and my engine crane on the front to lift the hole thing up to get out the locking bar .. Once i got the bar out i was able to lower the bike with no problem .. But now i can't jack to bike back up ... The pump does nothing when i pump it ... I guess it's just a cheap ass china pump and i don't now if a hyd repair shop would even touch a china made hyd ram .. Anyone got any ideas on a fix for the ram let me know ..

Waiting on jets, fuel return bung and fuel pump and i should be ready to test fire it .. I'm not all that crazy about the fuel PSI gauge that came with the turbo kit so i'll get a new one ..Boost gauge and A/F gauge look pretty good so i will use them ..

I need to find some shorter rear shocks to get the rear end down some and most likely cut and add spacers to the front forks to drop the bike in the front ... It's going to be hard to 60 foot this bike unless i can get it down in the weeds ..

Love those wheels ... Great looking bike ... Teddy is right that turbo does hang pretty low , maybe it's just the picture making it look that way .. Mine seem to be up much higher ..Looks like the same air box as mine also ..

no yall are right it hangs low.. he has talked about raising is up. He put a strap of a gen 1 busa on it. Im sure he will strap it down to see what clearance he has then move it..

The owner is looking to do rods, pistons and maybe different carbs.. Wants to up the boost to 20psi.. Not sure how he plans to use it yet... its actually pretty rowdy the way it is... Im sure he will figure something out.... He said something about seeing one that had a busa swing arm on it..

At 20 psi it will not be streetable anymore. Race only. Several have put busa arms on. Just a matter of making spacers. A ZX6 or 9 arm is closer to a direct bolt on if you also use the ZX rear wheel and brakes. I'm starting to work on getting my big motor back together. Shooting for a 190hp build this time. Trying to be the first all motor ZRX in the 8's. If I can't do it myself, I'll just throw Lee on it. He's always good for another tenth.

And my work horse. Need to take better pictures. She looks a lot better now.
