Winter Modifications
Hey guys I have a question I have a ZX14R which I recently added nitrous as well as a power commander ignition module and BMC race air filter. Haven’t had time to get to the strip but I am currently thinking of two modifications to do since the weather outside is starting to limit track days.
Modification one: Brock’s/Guhl’s ECU Flash
My question is how will the ECU flash affect the nitrous. Right now my bike is tuned for C16 on nitrous as well as motor. I tend to run pump 110 with a mixture of 93 around town on motor but on the button I run straight C16. I am utilizing the map switch function of the PCV so I have two maps that I can toggle between on the fly. I also have the Brocks maps that I use also. So depending on the outing I may have any combination of two maps in the PCV.. My question is what would happen as far as my tune doing the ECU flash. I have read that there are some minor timing adjustment made with the Brocks/ECU flash and I know timing and nitrous are not the best of friend on some days.
Modification two: Re-valve shock
Several shocks have came into my mind. I have thought about ohlins, Penske, JRI re-valve, BMC racing shocks, as well as the Brock drag race shock. After reading a few threads on PYSCHOBIKE I am leading toward the BMC racing shock. From what a few have said their short time have been the same with pretty much every re-valve as well and the other aftermarket shocks. I was told also that the shocks with the extra reservoirs though are better than stock are more geared toward road racing. I don’t know is this is a true statement but it could have some validity..
Anyways can you guys give me some inputs on both these future mods?

get litz to revalve the shock.

any external resevoir shock is to seperate the oil from the shock to that it does not overheat and lose it's damping effect. In a drag situation...not a big deal at all and not needed IMO.

You can do the flash but have Don Guhl leave the timming stock ..Don can take your ECU and have stock timing in power one ( F ) mode and in low power 2 mode remove timming for your spray .. Best just to give him a call ..

Lee that would be awsome and probably the best thing to do... I wall give him a call tomorrow. That would give me fun on the street as wella t a great set-up for track day jsut willneed to be mindfull to set the TRC seetting and the map switch... Good stuff if he can do that

I have the BMC revalved shock it is awsome, Lon is awsome to deal with and he stands by his shocks....and the price of the revalve is fair as well.
