14r Hiccup/Pics From Today
My 14r has been what was expected for a year, smooth and strong, about 3 weeks ago a trip to the 1/4 mile autoshift was trying to shift into 7th with the good air. So I went down 2 teeth in the rear 17-49 now. Today was the first time at the track, 1/8th mile. Leaving at 6500 rpm first two passes spun 2nd gear, waited a while for the track to get run in. No wheelies so I up the rpm to 7500, made a couple of runs, then on one pass I felt a very small like the 14r hiccupped, I was thinking tire spin, ran again and the 14r had a big hiccup in the middle of 1st gear, it shut off and came back on while at full throttle.
I know I was very low on fuel so I added about 2 gallons of 89 Shell, next pass the very very slight hiccup, ran again and all was good, I left at 6500 a few times not wanting t get that hiccup at full throttle lol, got brave and went back to 7500 without a hiccup the rest of the night.
Smokin "I'm sure" you ran your 14r with enough fuel when you had yours act up, watching your video you had the very slight hiccup, the big one aint no fun when the tank hits you in the chest. Could it have been a fueling issue? It gets me a little nervous when trying to push myself to get a 1.30+ 60ft thinking it could hiccup lol, funny I never ever had it do this with the 17-51 gearing, and I ran the fuel low many times,
A few zx14 photo's to follow....

If 2 gallons of fuel will stop it that's ok with me.

My NA14 has that little hiccup that when trying to push the lower limits on how little fuel we can run to save as much weight as possible. It takes about a gallon or so to eliminate it. Once the fuel light starts blinking you know it's coming soon.

Mine did the same thing. Turned out to be a clogged fuel filter, the one that attatches directly to the bottom of the pump inside the fuel pump assembly. When I pulled the pump apart, the filter looked like it had been soaking in mud. Only had about 5,000 miles on it at the time. After I cleaned the filter and re-assembled everything, the hiccup was gone.
