Brocks 17 " ct full system meg too loud for street remedy
For me the exhaust is fucking awsum but is way to fucking loud for street use even with my foam ear plugs in. When they say megaphone they mean it.Think of somebody yelling in a megaphone at a sporting game.IT IS AMPLIFIED BIG TIME NATURALLY..
I power wheelie in the first 3 gears. It lifts the front tire in 4th and 5 th gears enough at redline that the handle bars twitch side to side to let me know the tire is not on the ground well over a 150 mph.It did all this with the stock pipe also.
When i bought the pipe and pc5 i also bought the db killer disc insert baffle. It has around 35 3/16 holes that could be drill slightly bigger. In stock form the db killer is perfect at cutting the loud muffler sound but also cuts what I`m guessing 30 to 40 horse power and all the fun of this sick son of a bitch..Gone are the power wheelies in the first 3 gears.Gone is that beautiful torque of the oem exhaust. The engine braking went thru the roof. Now here`s another problem i can`t live with.
So this is where the electric drill comes in.I used a 1/4 drill bit and enlarged 16 holes in the center area of the db killer baffle. Now more of the low and mid range torque came back that the ct exhaust had tune out by having the db killer in place . It twitches the handle bars in the first 4 gears and has reduces some of the engine braking from having a cork in its ass.. Cruising on the hyway at 70 mph with the foam ear plugs inserted the sound of the wind for the most part covers up the exhaust sound.
So the there you have it.You can have you cake and eat it too.It only take 5 minutes to put in or take out the disc baffle.
Im sure drilling out the rest of the holes would gain more performance and get right back at being too loud but i found what i was looking for. When I go to the track (not much) out comes the butt plug and unleash`s the devil.God help us form the jap demon`s.
Hope this helps anybody with the same problem.......

well i own a 2000 zx12r with pc and full system micron exhaust....It feels and acts the same as it runs with the stock db killer installed..do the math..When i take the baffle out it make the zx12 feel way down on power.Back to back rides.

No way is it even close to 30 or 40 hp with the db killer. the db killers in the two brother pipes lose 2.7 and they are pretty restrictive. it would not lose 30 to 40 hp going back to the stock exhaust.

This is right from Brocks site,
After many months of dyno and track testing, we have developed a quickly inserted/removed Noise Reduction Plug (NRP) to easily temper the edge without significantly affecting the power output or the rich tone our customers have come to enjoy from our systems. Also, due to our free flow design, NO MAP CHANGES are required!

It don`t matter what that says.I`m guessing on #`s.The chic at Brocks said 30 hp.Whatever it is it`s night and day difference. The website say minus 1to2 h/p on the quite kore muffler. She said around minus 8.She said the db killer cut way more power than the quite kore. The #`s don`t matter. What matters is the end results. They sell a lot of the mufflers so guys if this appeals to you there you go.It made me real happy.I think the ct pipe i bought is totally awsum.I had to make it work for me.I`m going to gateway for it`s first track run this Wed.No plug. It`s gonna be a real handful that`s for damn sure.I can`t wait. But i will get kicked out after2 pass`s for going under 10 flat.

If both those hideous fucking oem muffles were the size of this ct muffler i would still have that 2 grand in my account.I did`nt need the bike to go quicker of faster.I was after, #1 to look better and # 2 to take off weight for better handling.....It did and it does.

The P1 inserts actually gained 1.3 HP according to Motorcyclist mag, the P1X did lose 2.7 hardly noticeable on the 14R my 2Bros with the P1X inserts actually feel like it has more low end, than the straight thru 2bros slip on ... Don't know about the brocks, but if someone is losing 30-40 HP something is seriously wrong somewhere .......

Laughable for someone to suggest that is the case.

Correct Mark, a little less than 30-40 HP reduction but not too far off. As far as the QuietKore they do a great job and only cost 3HP.

I have the same pipe and went with the noise reducer also. Major cut in hp with the reducer in. I left it in though because I do put on some miles. It's just so loud w/out it. I think I am going to sell the whole system and go with a different full system.

I`m guessing on power using my zx12r for the measure. It has a custom map that dynos at 170 h/p and 90 fpt.......I`m just trying to help anybody that is in the same boat.I truly believe in what i say and figured out.We just need the minds open a little more.I would have bought the quite kore if i could have a/b both system.Hell i never even have seen a brocks pipe in person till i opened my box 2 weeks ago.

I don't know how much power is robbed with the DB inserts but Brock did say there was a huge reduction by using them with the CT pipes. I don't know if the single is louder than the duals but I'm not not a huge fan of real loud pipes and I don't find my CT duals overly loud at all. Just a VERY rich mellow note.

That's a good question, I would like to know whether the CT duals would be quieter then the CT single. I am interested in the duals but would like to know the difference. Maybe someone who has the duals on their 14r can chime in.

Do you guys notice your set up burns rich in the tip outlet. Then when i ran the db killer for a week and pulled it out it turned very dark dry brown. On the current mpg read out the mileage went up 2 mpg.I cant run 150 mph everywhere so the ram air can lean it out.Maybe a race air filter would lean it out slightly.

I'm running the Brock's street map II, running 89 octane as recommended. Have not pulled the db killer out but I expect it will be discolored from heat/exhaust gases running through it. I will check it out soon as its almost time to put it away for winter.

The boss posted this
quote:
Don't sweat the color .. Just because it's black doesn't mean it rich .. Unleaded fuels with all the crap they add causes it to look black no matter what .. Now get some leaded race gas and run it and it will be light gray with the same map .. Can't go by color like we did in the old days of leaded fuels ..
Thanks Lee.I did not know that..If you keep trying you will never stop learning. And i got a lot to learn.

I have not heard a CT Single in person, but to me it does sound louder on youtube than duals. As mentioned my CT duals are not quiet but I would never call them objectionable. Probably the richest sound a motorcycle can make IMO.
