no cans at all?
I am going to my first track outing on the 12 this week and i was finally getting the lowering links and stuff on, and i took the cans off just to hear the new motor without them and the thought came to me i thought i read somewhere Ricky had ran the bike with the stock cans off and it went a little faster?
anybody have anything on this idea? they are super easy to get on and off but i dont want to waste any time at the track.

I read the same thing, that he went faster with the mufflers off.

Considering if you take them off your close to 35 lbs lighter my guess is it will go faster.

You would probably want to retune to really benefit though. Stock mapping may even lose power with cans off. But yeah, if stock cans, that's alot of weight.
You better check noise regulations at the track first. Lots of tracks won't allow anything above a certain decibel level.

Hey RB,
Ive spent alittle time riding it without the cans. Bike seems fine without them, but techs say you might loose alittle on top. Of course 35 lbs is alot of weight to loose so that helps. Whats gonna kill ya is the fcking noise. When you wind that bike up it sounds like a small V8. I would do some HS runs up and down 95 and by the time I got home I thought my teeth were gonna fall out. Forget earplugs or anything else for that matter its loud as fuck when you crank her up. I just came back from a trackday in NH a couple weeks ago I doubt very much I would do one without the cans. Even with the 35lbs and maybe a slight gain in quick response those 600 are gonna eat you up. All your gonna end up doing is pissing everyone off around you in the garage when you start that thing never mind when your on the track. Id keep the cans on but Id say you should pull them off then hit the highway and see what you think.
Its loud way loud and Im pretty much deaf... LOL
