THe 2CT is harder in the center, but soft on the sidewall, which allows it to spread out more on launch. The tires go 7.0 on a good track.

To your point about the tire getting wider on the launch ..True to a point .. Even at 8 PSI I was only using 4 inches of tread Vs using 5 and 1/2 inches on my Hookup at 17 PSI.. Looking at both tires it's pretty easy to see what tire is putting more rubber down .. I made two runs back to back and then went up to the starting to have a look .. My tracks were very clear , i was the only bike running at that time so i know they were mine ..The tracks were very thin , much thinner that what my hookup leaves behind at 17 to 18 PSI .. The 008 Leaves an even wider mark than the Hookup .. I have run the 008 as much as 24 PSI and dead hooked .. Even with no track prep it worked at 17 PSI ..Tommy Jesses ,Teddy and myself found this out .. Even with wetting the tire first we had a hard time doing a burnout .. Tommy stop doing burnouts and just doing a dry hop and it hooked .
Like you said i have also heard of guys going 7.0s on the power one tire , But i think they have a much better set up than my street bike has and better track prep.. I think if i was at 62 inch wheel base this tire would be fine ..Todd the track owner said he cut back on track prep because of low car counts .. That is not going to change anytime soon so i think i need to use a tire that works with less track prep... I hate to use a slick , but if that is what it takes to get down the track that is what i'm going to use ..
