Check your fairing bolts!!
14R has 2800 miles on it this morning on 200 mile trip on some rough roads. Front fairing, mirrors and windshield started vibrating profusely at upper speeds...
Finally took a break and began looking around. The bottom stock bolt and nut below the ignition switch were missing, the upper bolt was in place, but the nut had vibrated loose and was lying in the fork bay area....threads exposed...nursed it home, replaced the lower bolt and installed special locking nuts on both...end of problem.
So.....a relatively new bike and the fairing was about to fall off !! Never had this happen with any other bike before...
I randomly tighten bolts when cleaning every week...but did not touch these cause they are down on steering column area and thought the factory would have put a torque on those nuts and not used just cap nuts without lock washers to secure both...
So, word to the wise.....you guys check yours ....just in case!
