8.44 on a ZX14R !!

Brocks facebook post ..

‘Regular Guys’ are at it again! Brock’s and Z Performance customer Tim King’s recent purchase of a 2012 ZX-14R has just paid off BIG TIME. At the hands of local jockey T-Wright, (AKA Tommy Wright to his mamma) Tim’s 14R has just thrown down an amazing 8.44 @ 158.28 MPH! The nearly new bike (260 miles) does not have nitrous oxide and sports only bolt-on parts including a Brock’s Performance TiWinder exhaust, DragShock EZ, Clutch Mod, Air Shifter Components, Window Links and Front End Lowering Kit, Alisyn oil and Petron Additive. —

Same here, haven't been since May. We got a few cool days last week, but they didn't last long.

Really. Funny how he could have easily lost the race with that reaction time. Still, impressive numbers for sure once you move past the reaction time.

I have been considering doing a mild head job and 47mm tbs to see if, with $1600 worth of mods, could I get my gen1 ZX14 'from a performance stand point' close too, equal too,or to out perform these $16,000 gen2 ZX14s.

To see if the price and hype is warrented by its performance .

(This not an atttack against anyone, just an experiment)

Is this something you guys would want to see?

My gen 1 with a super sport head and degreed cams with stock TB's performed as in my signature. Granted, my 60' times were not at their full potential, and my race weight suited was close to 190 at the time.

Not sure if a lighter rider without a partially fused wrist and longer swingarm could have gotten my bike to 8.40's... I don't think so.

I've already done it man. My advice- do it!! 14R is a great bike- massive acceleration and great TQ. My best on the Gen 1 with an SS head and 47mm TB's- 9.73@144. Best on a 14R with everything identical minus a pipe and PC- 9.98@139. I'm sure the 14R will do 9.60's or even 9.50's with the pipe and PC. But to each is there own. Great numbers BTW on those 14R's.
