ZeX14,

Empirical data gathering is critical in all statistical evaluations. Unfortunately, I have found that most dyno operators and bench racers do not understand the concept. I have personally experienced dyno power fluctuations over 4% as a sunny dyno day is interrupted by a rainy low/pressure thunderstorm and back again (in the matter of an hour or so). Hell, the water vapor in the air after a rain can ruin an entire days testing. Additionally, only one item at a time would need to be added to gather the proper data.

It always makes me chuckle when I see dyno graphs posted without the run notes, containing the date and conditions.

As far as your comment above, I have 2 questions:

1. Why would they even bother to map a bike with an EXTREMELY high performance exhaust and no matching map in the FI controller?

2.Why this thread is even named what it is named? They never once state the coils are worth 6 hp... they say that the coils and MAPPING are worth 6 HP....

Brock
Brock’s Performance

When we ran the 2013 HT project on Champion Cycle's dyno in June, it made 6 hp more then any other ZX-14R had produced with similar 'bolt-on' mods at that time. Considering the best to worst aftermarket exhaust differential might be 2hp, I agree with Brock - the coils and a proper map did something.

If you click on the link posted at start of thread. Reads below. In Addition ? Also under link Takai super coil Big Black # 6hp gained from a coil mod. Seemed like A good place to start the quest for more info ?

quote:
WE HAVE IGNITION

Looking for every edge without breaking into the valve cover, we turnde to F1 technology in the form of Takai Super Coils. These coils are made to incite performance through the use of an "X2 focal core" that works in conjunction with internal super conductors to focus the energy field in the ignition coils. This results in longer, hotter and higher efficiency spark events that create stronger combustion and therefore greater engine response, mileage and performance. With the installation of these coils, we gained six more HP and two LB-FT of torque in addition to the six HP gained with the full exhaust system and fuel controller. The total power added with all the components was 12 hp.

Thanks for the feedback InlandEmpireRider. Nice to hear the positive results and I agree with you.

I know there is no such thing as 'empirical' data. Everything from dyno's to 1/8 miles are always scrutinized and questioned. Back to backs dynos are called out as well as 1/8 mile etc. It's just a matter of taking many reviews and coming to the best conclusion we can for what we are looking for.

As a side note, I talked with them at length and allot of what they say makes sense. IE, making a LONGER burn time vs higher voltage spark of other companies. I can see how that would light off more air fuel and that there would be validity to that claim.

Also, what caught my attention was that the parent company, WeaponX Performance, exclusively supplies ignition coils for the Shelby 1000. That is Shelby's 1200hp upgrade to the Shelby GT500. I know it is neither here or there but if Shelby is trusting them to light off 1200hp, then to me it means there is an advantage in using the ignition coils. It also shows that people who do have REAL empirical data have tested the ignition coils and they do what they need to do. Apparently the Takai stuff is even better then the WeaponX stuff, they just don't use them on cars because of the cost of the higher end materials and manufacturing.

Anyway, those were some noteworthy comments that came to mind. Thought others would be interested. Mine are coming, I will let you know initial impressions when I get them... gotta go for now going to get in trouble for chatting here on the job. lol

I got an email from Amazon with a promotional code. This is why I was so hot to find out any more details I could over here. Incase someone wants to know, I hacked around and found the promo code, I guess its 8D5OZBM6!? I believe the name of the company on Amazon is M-BRAND automotive or something like that. I think it's only good for another week or so but I paid $599.99 for them plus shipping and handling. Not too shab... pretty much same price as OEM coils. Pretty excited to get them actually!

LOL. This shit reeks of spam, this whole thread. I will be on the lookout for all of the $600 coils at the racetrack.

Did you "hack around" to find the promo code...or did you get it in an email from Amazon??

I "guess" you are full of shit.

Shane, to me, it's clear you have issues deeper then this thread, and this forum is an outlet for your sad existence. Part of the reason I don't go on forums is because of complete, utter and unappreciative individuals like you who lack respect.

All I did was come in here and ASK... what some other experiences were and posted some other peoples experiences, some of whom have been on here for quite some time. Your the one that asked where I got em and I am the one that responded.

If anything smells fishy it's you and why you would ask such a stupid question to post such a stupid remark.

You have 17 posts in the forum. 17 of them are in this thread. You "guess" you have a promo code from an amazon email, but you also "hacked" around to get it.

Nothing more to say. Anxious to hear your "results", and how you quantify them.

Shane... get fn lost dude... you are pathetic. I have no reason to report my results here because of idiots like you and couldn't care less because even if I pick up power you are here to be a fn douche.

Like somehow I have control over what is being said here and who posted what? Just because I was in a hurry to ASK someone what their results were on a ZX14!? Really? Are you that paranoid? I bet you think aliens are out to get you. lol... loser... anyway... I am done here talking to the likes of you.

BTW thanks for helping out with my concerns instead of bending me over for asking questions. Oh I forgot... that is just what dicks do.

Very eloquent prose. Hard to top that.

Lol, who got 25 hp on an oil change? I consistently get 3 hp compared to good 10/40 synthetic when I switch to <<0 Allisyn with the Petron. On my 14R, it picked up 8 hp over the sludge-like break-in oil, in back to back pulls. All of my results are documented.

The video explains everything we did. Not only did we pick up 22 RWHP, but Will’s bike actually made 1 more horsepower than our own S1000RR ‘Christine’ set up apples to apples on the same dyno:

Procedures/Efforts used to increase the Will Torres BMW S1000RR power from 176 RWHP to 198 RWHP (SAE SCALE)

• Drained Fuel and replaced with VP MR12
•Drained Oil and replaced with Alisyn Less Than Zero Weight Full Synthetic Motor Oil with Petron Additive
•Went for 10 mile ride (before dyno session) to allow MR12 'cleansing' and to allow Petron to penetrate metal
• Removed aftermarket street style air cleaner, and installed OEM air cleaner
• Cleaned chain with Motul Chain Clean
• Lubricated chain with Alisyn Chain Lube
• Removed noise reduction plug from exhaust
• Re-installed Brock's Performance CT Single Map in Dynojet PCV
• Adjusted chain to proper tension

That's a lot more than just an oil change. The fuel alone is worth as much as 8 hp, from my experience.
