Barn Find !! well sort of. it was packed in a storage shed

This evening I followed up on a bike that someone had told my buddy about and he had told me about. So after work I decided to stop in at the house and ask about the bike in question. I knocked on the door and asked if the bike was for sale. I was told it was but it had been stored in the back of a shed (portable building) for the last 8 years. So we went back to the building and dug off all the boxes of junk that had it blocked in and there it was. A 1995 red Yamaha V-Max with only 686 miles on it. After doing some back and forth offers I ended up getting it for $800 dollars. The motor is not frozen up but its going to take some work to get it back on the road. carbs cleaned, Battery, flush the tank and all fluids. two new tires. But its clean except for some minor paint fading. I will snap some pics during the day. Should be able to make a few bucks off of it. oh and do some big burnouts

I would disagree I had a 1997 vmax I restored and gave to my father-in-law and it was very easy to find all the parts I needed for the restore the only thing that was a pain was pulling and rebuilding the motor but was very nice when done.
I got most of the OEM parts from cyclepartsnation.com and the performance parts came from madmax.com so good luck with the restor and good find.

i think you missed the point ..he found a bike that sit for 17years maybe ..that means every seal , hose, tire , fuel tank carb kit (maybe), all fuilds , battery, clear coating will need to be replaced or repaired.. hopefully rats didn't make the air box and wiring harness home .. and keep his price for resale in this neck of the woods http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mcy/3206859311.html http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/3114339724.html

Yes he will have a lot of stuff to do but it will be more a time thing than actual hard work. I would stay away from the berryman b12 chemtool carb cleaner while cleaning the carbs because it plays hell on the slide diaphragms and the the needle for the floats I use gum out carb cleaner for them. And post some pics of the before and after.

Yes I agree but with less than 700 miles that may be unlikely although I changed 2 shift cams over the life of my old vmax over 24,000 miles most were very hard miles the last one I got was a hardened shift cam I got from Paul at Mad Max Enterprise.

I am not going to restore it. I had to work over today so I didn't get pics but I will. I have put new second gear in several of the V-max's. I think this one is OK. I did'nt realize the price of used ones had gone so low. The good news is it pretty much stayed the same so parts on Ebay are all over it. All I plan on doing is bare minimum to get it going then throw it on Craigslist for about 2500 and make a dollar off of it. The last one I owned had the KerKer 4-2-1 exhaust and it sounded like a small block chevy running. Very cool. The B-King must be a no sale either. I have not had one hit on it at $6700 and it has 2900 miles. I think it is the exhaust on it. I have a Gen 2 Busa full Yosh RS3 carbon I could put on it if that might help it sell. The bike market sucks around here.

I did have two calls on the B-King. a 67 year old guy and a 61 year old guy. WOW motorcycles in Atlanta offered me $5800 cash or $6500 towards trade on any bike they have, Been working so much overtime I have not touched the V-max.

Why not keep it as a second backup bike?
Extreme low mileage, and probably very reliable.

Don't spend anything on cosmetics, just get it running once the engine checks out.
