Mark asked, "what's a paint job like this cost?"......After they finish all the pieces (and the time comsuming stuff like reverse vinyl on the Muzzy can logos to paint them gold, paint the engine parts etc. etc.) about 4 large.

It appears all Canadian 2013 ZX-14's come with ABS.......Not sure how well it works (or if I'd want to find out on a $40K built bike) might be helpful with lower insurance rates.

ABS sucks big donkey dick, I hate the fuckin' safety nazi's and all their paranoid fantasies they press on us. With all the electronics controlled through the ecu it will be near impossible to remove abs from newer bikes as it will be an integraged part of their programs nearly eliminating the ability to remove the hardware & all it;s weight & complexity from the bike. When I removed the abs pump & tubing from my r1100s I removed close to 17 ilbs of dead weight up high & considerably improved the brake performance & feel. Don't buy into the lie of it being safer, learn to ride & you'll be safer. Why do any of the dual sport bikes that have abs have an off switch for the dirt? Because abs is dangerous off road just as it is on your road bike in any situation except where the road is a perfect surface which is virtually never. End of rant please continue with your normally scheduled build.

Thanks SH.......The bikes I build are essentially for me, I'm not in the bike business, just a big time enthusiast. That said, we don't sell anything we build however as always I gladly show and tell everything we do mods wise (starting next week when our 2013 arrives) and you can 'pick and choose' what you like.......In real life, I'm a corporate head-hunter in Toronto. I own an Executive Search firm, Randall & Associates Inc.

We begin the build next week, if by chance there is anyone with a 2012 or new 13 in the Greater Toronto area who would like our discarded 2013 stock parts, let me know. The deal is simple - the parts are free, you come pick them up.

Mark asked for the stock tire (no idea what they are) but as soon as we finish painting the rims and mounting the Dunlop Q2 donuts - they're his!

Stay tuned brother - not sure we need to cut anything to fit these new Kappa bags. Give me a few days to get them mounted with the Muzzy pipes.

Boys I'm pleased to announce that ALi, Aerospace Lubricants Ltd will be joining the 'ht' build provided their 'industry best' 10/30 syntethic oil (motor spins up faster with 30 weight and still provides the protection you need sitting in traffic) chain lube and grease etc........We'll throw in the 'less than zero' for our Mirabel mile run.

Gentlemen- FYI from Don Guhl regarding what he can now do with your ECU.
Thanks very much for the follow-up Don, greatly appreciated. We’re very excited to get you to work your ‘magic’ on the 2013 ECU. I should have the bike later this week or early next and as soon as we do, I’ll pull the ‘brain’ and send it down…….Christallmighty, I just might send you my brain as well and get you to remove 60 yrs of restriction!!!!
All the best,

Cliff,
Thank you for the update emails.
I see that your dealer now has your new bike. We are ready for the ECU whenever you get it.
We have the ability to make the traction control be totally off when you turn it off. We can also make it stay off when you turn it off and power cycle the bike. Normal operation forces the TC back on when you turn it off and power cycle the bike.
After the flash, there are no longer any restrictions in the ECU, including the secondary throttle plates, so there is no need to remove them. Through testing, it appears that the engine makes more power with the secondaries installed.
We can remove the top speed limiter and raise the rev limit.
We have worked with the ignition mapping and we have a custom timing map that does help.
Everything that I have mentioned is part of our standard derestriction reflash.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Don Guhl

Received a note from BST in South Africa today, they're coming to the party with a set of their fabulous carbon fiber wheels - unreal! I'll post a pic (on the scales) when they arrive.

Yah baby..........Picked up the new 14 yesterday from The Edge Performance in Newmarket, quick observation - fabulous fit and finish on this motorcycle, I noticed it immediately. Everything fits properly right down to the smallest pieces. I like that.
Here we go - by 1am last night Rob at Tricked Toys and I had the bike stripped and the ITL provided Kappa hard bags roughed in – beautiful fit, albeit with a little bit of plastic ‘abbreviation’.
Next we removed the ‘Howitzers’ and slipped the wild Muzzy Ti/CF exhaust system on – beautiful ‘one-off’ pipe by Rob and his team, absolutely perfect (and I’m fussy) but the sound of this 4 into1 into2 is to friggin die for! Reminds me of a full race 1000TL on steroids!
BTW – the super light Ballistic Lithium battery fired the 14 up no problem, pretty neat addition.
- Scott’s dampener (always top drawer) went on if 5 minutes - very sexy product, especially to look at all day while riding.
- The BST carbon fiber wheels arrived yesterday as well – the box was huge but it didn’t weigh anything? Unreal workmanship in these $7K wheels with ceramic bearings – should make a huge difference in rolling mass and performance – thanks to Terry and her team at BST in South Africa. BTW – we’ll be painting a ¼” gold ‘trim rim’ around the outer edge of the wheels – very GPish.
- Next stop, this weekend we’ll mount the Koso EGT and the Dynojet wideband screens right into the frontal plastic gas tank cover. Very cool and no choice, there simply isn’t any room left on the dash for more stuff. We’ll also lower the bike 2” with the Muzzy kit – nasty.
- Don Guhl at Guhl Motors is standing by ready to receive and re-flash our ECU with all kinds of go faster goodies - crazy I tell ya!
- Giorgio Rondinini at Precision Titanium in Miami is awaiting out Ti header to manufacture and install the EGT Ti mounts. You can’t put stainless steel mounts, or any other metal into a Ti pipe.
- Cam at The Plastic Surgeon is ready to go on the bodywork (when we’ve finished the rough stuff) removing the turn signals and ‘fine tune’ the 14 plastic. Cam is unreal, he’s a plastic millwright and ultimately responsible for some of the coolest mods I’ve done on this bikes and sleds.
- The master blaster ‘Johnny Boy’ Connery and The House of Kolor have cleared the decks and await our project where the satin black with gold ice metallic (new look) will be accented with satin gold – should be stunning.
- Quick note - the bike sits on fully adjustable Pit-Bull race stands, a must have both in the shop and at the track.
All this said, just wonderful to be back on another project – man it makes you younger by the minute and my wife really loves to hear all about it when I get home, at 2AM!
Lots more exciting stuff to come, stay tuned and thanks.
All the best,
Cliff

Can you post a picture of the bag mounting with the seat off? did you just have to trim the seat cowl to make them fit?
