LMFAO. That's happenstance.
I have the dash set at 200 miles per tank but 180/190 is more realistic.
I rode home straight through,940 miles and Brother, towards the end that's plenty.
Last 350 miles were in the rain and it got to be a chore.

Well done SG, I would have sold the bike and grabbed a cab!.......That effort puts you on the 'HT' team as our CTO - Chief Touring Officer!

Hey guys, I'm often asked - "Cliff who makes all those matching leather suits for your projects?" Answer - I.M. Leathers in Hamilton Ontario Canada - Jenn gets the bike painter to paint the leather sheets beforehand, then she sews the suit to match, she even paints my gloves and boots. Same thing is happening with this wild 14 project. Jenn will design the suit around a pair of Sidi Adventure boots and make me a 'quasi race/touring' 2 piece (zip together) suit with 'old school' hip, knee, elbow and shoulder soft padding (no hard plastic) in black with gold highlights - should be very sexy..........Matching Arai lid of course.

Hi guys.....Very excited to welcome Dan and his entire drag race team at Champion Cycle here in Toronto. I've know Dan for a few yrs now, he's one of the fastest and 'most enthusiastic' guys in the business - his credentials speak for themselves:
Hey Cliff,
On a ZX14 our fastest was a 7.51 @ 198mph , on a 'n2o huffing' 14. I’m sure I could dig up some time slips.
The turbo ZX14 from Discovery Channel went 8.29 @ 160mph, it’s a bone stock motor with 5 psi.
Cheers,
Dan

FYI - Forgot to mention, we'll do our prep dyno work at Champion Cycle with Dan's 'DynoJet Tuning Center', then use that info as our base map for the 'Mirabel Mile'. Couple of practise runs and the motor should tell us where it likes to be fueled at max speed, all via our cool PC5 tuning package and the tach.

And one more thing - we're putting a 4.5lb carbon fiber n2o bottle in one of the hard bags, for a little extra push!!!....I'm calculating about 250hp on the soon to be 'World's Fastest Touring Bike' - Unreal.

Hi guys....Quick question - is anyone currently using a 40 shot 'pump gas' n2o system on their 14? if so, would you mind if we chatted about it either on the thread, or off camera?
Thanks very much,

Why not chat with the guy that you posted a link to, 198 mph in the 1/4 mile spraying?

Thanks Wheelie, yes I've chatted with Dan at length about the different set-ups and frankly I was interested to see what you fellows we're using. As the day has progressed and my discussions have heightened - I'm not convinced the typical 'dry system' (no piggy-back fuel) which some use, is best for me.......Do you really get the added fuel (even with a 40 shot) from a factory air temp sensor trick? I don't know the answer, but it concerns me considering I’ll be going 200+mph with a 10 second squeeze at Mirabel Airport next Summer........Frankly a light went off and I'm now leaning on one of my sled sponsors, Jason at Straightline Performance, who own the Holtzman n2o patent and sells a system I use on my 2011 800 E-tec sled, 30 shot on pump gas, 60 shot on VP Fuel C14. I also run a very slick Boondocker 'box' controlled 125hp shot on my MachZ sled, but the technology is not compatible with this 14.......I've reached out to Jason to see if we can adapt his fabulously simple and effective product - that picks up fuel from the stock fuel line (via a small diameter T fitting) and uses the stock EFI fuel pressure to feed an adjustable fuel valve that splits off and nourishes each cylinder with a jet drilled into the rubber intake manifold between the TB and the head. The n2o and the added fuel are fired by a button on the bars that is wired into a solenoid which accommodates both, it's a completely separate system dedicated just to the shot, which on pump gas we'd set at 40hp. The beauty of it - if it will work on the 14 - is that you need no mapping changes whatsoever, it has nothing to do with the stock fuel curve, just fog the air box with one n2o nozzle (this works very well in my experience, no need for individual TB nozzles with a 40 shot) and feed the individual manifolds with the pre-set allotted fuel. Once installed, just fill your bottle and go, 600psi is all she really needs to function, so Summer’s natural ambient temp is usually as fine 70 degrees gives us 900PSI........Works great on our high strung 2 stroke sleds - not sure if you fellows are familiar with this style, but always keen to learn.
Thoughts,
Cliff

Guys, thanks so much for a few PM's today, I'm sorry but I don't seem to be able to manage them well here at all. My end doesn't allow me to answer anyone properly, not sure why. if I don't get it right on the first try - it's gone and I have no idea how to get you back - my apologies.
Under the circumstances cliff@randallsearch.com is probably best.

This just in from Mike........When you hit the n2o button, have it also signal the PC5 to change maps instanly to the richer one. Off the button, back to the regular map. Sounds perfect, is anyone doing it?
Thanks,

This looks pretty good - I'll check the set-up with DJ tomorrow............................."i use the horn button for mine, since my horn is no longer on the bike.
I've seen it around and i'll look for it. I didn't use one when i did mine, it really is simple if you take the time to think about it. I've got two relays in my system, the horn button activates both of them. One is for the nitrous (just cause i like relays, i think its safer) and the other is for the map switch. If you cut the map switch wire, you'll see that there are actually only two wires going to it. meaning NO = one position and NC = the other. (i dont have my bike here or else i would be more specific). Wire the relay up in place of the switch and your map will switch when you push the horn button.
I can draw up a diagram tommorow if it'll help.. too tired tonight its past my bed time LOL"
Thanks,
Cliff

Got it figured out...........Here's the deal, Muzzys are sending me a beautifully 'loomed' plug and play system that will do 2 things. First off, the Muzzy n2o 40 hp dry shot will be triggered by the starter button, which when depressed and held will give us the good stuff as well as the PC5 'rich map' (20pts of fuel or so should do it). I like fuel with my n2o - 12 to 1 range would be the target I think......The second feature will be Muzzys sexy 'air shifter' which will be fired by pushing the horn button. All that and a 4.5lb carbon fiber n2o bottle in the hard bag should make for a fun ride! Jay at Dynojet tech confirmed our thoughts on the 'button' mapping changes.
This just in - I like widebands but with juice, I prefer EGTs. I'm planning to mount a kit on the dash so we can see what's going on a little quicker then we can with the o2 sensor........I'd be interested to know if anyone else is currently doing this.
Thanks very much.

On another note, Dunlop Tires USA jumped on board the project today providing their fabulous Q2 rubber, which I use on the ZX1270. For 2013 the Muzzy Kawasaki ZX14-HT will be wearing a 'fat' 200/50 rear, with the always sticky120/70 front. Should provide all the stability and grip this beast will command.......I suggested Dunlop send the rears up by the truck load!

Yes - these projects are all sponsor driven, otherwise my wife would have been gone long ago!.......What'll really make this fabulous ZX14-HT baby roll is you Wheelie, along with the rest of the great guys on Bikeland logging in and getting excited about the build.
Thanks,
Cliff

It's called advertisement.(and tax write-off)
If a given individual has a track record of accomplishment they are happy to supply you with wares.
I'm sure you're aware of this.
I'm happy for the guy and it sure looks to me he's got the past record of achievements.
Those ain't no "Ï bolted this shit together in my garage" bikes he's got posted.
Manufacturers want to see their product in print and look for viable means.
Rob Muzzy on board?? Dyno-Jet? It's cool stuff.
I for one,am stoked for the guy.
Carry on Clifford.
(and the blah, blah, blah? 5-P's)(I'm sure you're aware of this too)

He is... He had all the hot bikes during the eighties... Had the Ninja 900, an 1100 Spectre, a GPZ 1100 a Ninja 1000r and a a Yamaha xs1100.
It was nice when he had the loud ones. If we were doing something we weren't supposed to be doing we had a warning that he was coming home.
He doesn't have a bike anymore, but he has taken my 14 for a ride once or twice.

Thanks gentleman, I always appreciate your support.......Here's the win - we design, build and tune the bike right here on Bikeland, in a very open forum, sharing everything we do with you. I'm always the dumbest guy in the room (it's safer that way) so we're hoping you'll find it interesting and jump in with your own experience and knowlegde from time to time......Over the years we've recieved some brilliant ideas for these projects from the 'global internet think tank' - you!.....We also make sure we give back, donating the magnificent $52K BMW R1100SS project to the Veterans Honour Ride Foundation here in Toronto - a guy rode it home on a $50 ticket.

My good pal Rob at Tricked-Toys (tricked-toys.com) in Newmarket Ontario has enthusiastically agreed to do all of our fabrication work on the HT project.......Rob is one of the smartest designers/CNC operators/Mill-wrights/English-wheel benders and builders of completely one-off bikes (from the frame up) that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. On top of that, he's a super guy.......I welcome and bow to the greater builder.

KOSO has joined the build with their fabulous EGT gauge. I've use them on our sleds, really well built and extremely accurate equipment. o2 is good, but I love EGT's........We'll be in a much better position to tune our n2o shot with them (40hp on premium pump gas - 80hp on C12) and they are also great for 'balancing' your throttle bodies - just square up the temp and you're done. Muzzys (always the best) will be making up Ti thread mounts and welding them into the Ti headers for me.........New Flash from Kawasaki - this just in, the 2013 ZX14 is shipping out from Japan now, they'll be here in 3-4 weeks.
