How Difficult Is It To Change Clutches

So the other week I'm on a back road messing around. I stopped and holeshot a couple of times then headed home. Got a mile down the road and my clutches started slipping bad. So i'm guessing the clutches are gone. 2006 with 16,000 miles on it. Anyway I stopped by the dealership and asked the guy for a ballpark figure of how much they would charge to replace them. The guy told me somewhere around 500 bucks. Sounds a little too much in my opinion. Is it hard to change the clutches myself?

Not at all. Where in NC are you?

You can buy an OEM clutch or a drag pack clutch from Dwaine at Cycle Concepts in SC. I've had my drag pack in for over a year now and all is good. It costs a little less than OEM and just as good as far as I'm concerned.

I ride mine on the road just about every day. I've had it for just over 2 years and put on just shy of 20,000 miles since I got it. Drag Pack works fine on the street too. I can't remember how much it was but you can call them at 803 285 8093. A number of guys on here use this clutch. I'm just on the north side of Fort Bragg. Did you download the manual from this site?

Get the clutches and we can help you here live, you can do it and you will know it was done right, very simple install, do an oil change at the same time, you will need to soak the new clutches before installing.

It's easy peazy.

I, personally like to do both frictions and steels.

I also like to drop the oil pan and clean out all the old clutch gunk.

The whole job can be done in an afternoon.

Clutch, gasket, sump gasket, oil, filter and 4 exhaust gaskets and you're good to go.

+1, have used the drag pack.... Worked very well. About $150 if I remember correctly with springs, fibers & steels. Not to start any controversy, but the drag pack clutch fibers were in a "KG clutch bag".
